I didn't realize that men made the decision about how their wives contracepted. Sounds like we're getting closer to Muslim-style decisionmaking in any case! :-/
I do marriage preparation counseling. The husband's trustworthiness, and the prospect of support and approval (or lack of it) from relatives and friends are pretty much the determining factors in how (or whether) the wife uses contraception. A husband bears a huge responsibility for his wife's decisions, since they are heavily affected by his attitude toward her.
Another way to put it is, women are not atoms existing by themselves when they make big decisions. Nor are they fools.
