Because. We're "civilized" and we don't do that kind of thing. Just because they'll KILL you to enforce their unConstitutional edicts is, apparently, not enough reason to kill them first.
Watch.... there won't be so much as a whimper over this one. Nor the next one. Nor the next. There might be angry phone calls or hastily scribbled letters to uncaring politicians. There might even be a mock trial or two in which if you dare mutter the word "Constitution" during testimony it will be cause enough for you to be held in "contempt of court".
And the abuses will continue...

I can't remember where I read it, but recently I was reading an article that described Americans as being "unhealthily in love with the law". I think that is a pretty good description of most of them.
If I hear someone in Cook County decides to open fire on the brownshirts, I'll support it.
