Harper just wants to build up the military and cut taxes, Dion says, and it's clear that any right-thinking, sorry, left-thinking, person would realize how ridiculous that is

Is she related to that big headed singer Dion?

"... related to that big headed singer Dion?"

Apparently, he & Celine are very, very distant cousins but some suppose 'separated at birth' is far more believable:

Good side-by-side and separated at birth for sure. She looks tougher...I think she could kick his butt. :-)

Note: a few years ago, Dion actually got himself a new dog and named it "Kyoto" but ... apparently now even its 'emissions' are up in comparison to America's 'First Dog' Barney's:

"hey, the guy's a dork ... so's his dog"

While Dion is much like Kerry in terms of shameless flip-flops, his incredibly self righteous moonbat views coupled with his non-stop pretentious intellectualism can be nicely encapsulated as "Howard Dean with a heavy, heavy French accent".

Great thread!

Here's the vrai Stephane Dion:

In a nutshell - a scheming priestly French hypocrite.

If you go back far enough in Quebecer geaeology, the tree has few branches. Aren't Quebecers with the same last name all related back to the same French colonial families?

Take the pompous self-righteousness ignorance and stupidity of Jimmy Carter,

Add a Liberal dose (what else?) of spoiled Chretien juice,

Stir in flavored essence of multiple environmental wackos,

A splash of classic 'anti-American vintage white whine',

Add a generous portion of barely literate Euro-Chirac-style English,

Mix well, shake it, shake it, shake it,

PRESTO!!!

Stephane Dion Quiche!

(no need for eggs, they'll be in his face soon enough)

English Canada is going to elect a Quebecois who speaks broken English and who sounds like a left-wing academic? An interesting question given that many Liberals wonder if the new Liberal Party leader is even electable.

Bravo!

I am nominating you for the Gordon Lightfoot/Céline Dion Prose Award!

One question: The Canadian Liberals expect this clousot to get votes where?

He also believes it's OK to take shots at the Americans for domestic consumption, but not if you're in Washington.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

In other words, Dion is a yellow belly, sausage suckin', frog coward? How's that for domestic consumption? Say goodbye to the Liberal party. Lets hope they keep him for a long time.

"Aren't Quebecers with the same last name all related back to the same French colonial families?"

Likely true in a general sense; barring duplication of surnames, subsequent French immigration; long institutionalized spelling errors, etc.

Plus, there's the whole quasi-racist 'pur laine' status thing in Nationalist circles with a lot claiming they can trace their ancestry back to ol 'Jean-Guy Rubberboot' in the 1600's with his own personal Royale-bestowed Seigneury on the banks of the St. Lawrence when, in reality, considerably few of them likely can.

There's been plenty of French-Canadian outside intermarriage over the years too:
Not so much with the English but with the Irish and especially with the Scots. It's not all that uncommon to find denizens of la belle province with a really Scottish name whose mother tongue is now French (e.g. Robert Burns - the Pequistes Legislative House Leader back in the 70-80's).
There's also been more intermingling 'avec les maudit savages' than many Quebecois would like to admit with such ancestry being viewed in more than a few quarters not unlike one having a remote Jewish background 'taint' is by some in old Europe.

From Small Dead Animals.......

The Stephane Dion English-To-English Dictionary

It's the launch of a new SDA category! Or, as Stephane might say "This category will propel sustainably. I have always believe that".

We'll start things off with this short transcript from a taped interview ;

OC: "When did your thinking on these issues start to change? When did you become aware of them? At the time that Paul Martin appointed you, or..."

Dion: "No, I must say I have always been a lover for nature...um, love with a nature and, as a Quebec city kid it's not difficult to be in the wood -- twenty minutes and you are, it's a beautiful lake in the woods, and I love that, and I'm always reading and very concern about protection of nature and involved and so on..."

Later on, same answer, same question, "Where I've been convince that the environment and the economy must be together, and it will become the issue of the century, it came over years, and when I became Minister of the Environment, right away, it's what I said to Mr. Martin and to my deputy minister. It was my plan."

OC: "After you became the Minister..."

Dion: "No, the very moment I became. The first thing I said to the Prime Minister was 'oh, if you give me that, this is the orientation I want to give to this department.' I think it's the key point to that."

Olaf, bless his heart, has more;

"the improvement of the information is too low"
"the necessity to speed up what we have to do is bigger than otherwise".

So, here's the deal. We're unlikely to find passages this rich reprinted in their raw form. But with the growing availability of original audio files, there should be ample opportunity to capture Mr. Green in his unspoiled, natural state.

Bonus points for catching media translation/sanitization of what is rapidly becoming known as "Dionglish". (eg. rewriting a quote on his behalf, or extracting two or three words and replacing the grammatically challenged portions with their own helpful rephrasing.)
