The last common ancestor of all Western Europeans (of which Obama is half) was about AD 1000, so something like this is not a big surprise and just about everyone has lots of famous people in their family tree.

I traced my mom's geneology back 350 years and every one of them was from the little town of Gumlakarlaby, Finland, where nothing ever happened 'ceptin' for the blizzards and the mysterious fish die-off of 1727. And no one ever even heard of anybody that was famous.
