Drop Out, Biden
CBS News ^ | 2/5/07 | Jonathan Chait.

...Biden has been telling people for months that he's going to run ... If I turned on the television and watched Biden formally accepting the nomination at the Democratic National Convention, I might believe it then. ...

I'm not saying Biden shouldn't be president. I have tons of respect for him, and I think he'd do a terrific job if he could get it. I just find it amusing that he thinks there's some chance he could become president. ...

Biden's charming cluelessness was on display in a recent ABC news interview. The famously verbose senator was asked to state in 25 words or less why Democrats should nominate him. His response was 45 words. ...

Biden is a gaffe machine. He ran for president 20 years ago but had to abandon his campaign when it was discovered that he had plagiarized speeches from a British politician,...

In his latest effort, Biden wasted no time subverting his already microscopic chances. On the day of his announcement, he mused about Illinois Sen. Obama: "I mean, you got the first mainstream African American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy." ...To be sure, this is still a pretty cringe-inducing way for white people to talk about African Americans...

And, of course, last summer Biden attempted to endear himself to an Indian American supporter ..., "you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent." Not only was this an offensive line, it didn't even make any sense: ... can't even keep his condescending cliches straight. ...he's the product of a laboratory experiment designed to create the world's worst presidential candidate. If the Obama gaffe doesn't knock him out of the race, something else will. I doubt he makes it to Iowa...

I still think he wandered into a 2 Live Crew show and got "spooked".

I have never seen anyone in my life that loves the sound of his own voice. Besides Clinton.

"It maybe his wife pushing him so hard to stay out on the campaign trail."

Do you mean like "Get out of here and do something?"

I don't understand why he keeps apologizing to Obama.

Obama is the ONLY Black he DIDN'T insult...

Yup, it'll be a hoot seeing him standing next to Sen. Obama for the primary debates.

I sure hope he doesn't put his ego in check...naah, it's Joe Biden. Go Joe all the way to Ioway!

"Actually, I think that Joe Biden will win the primary and then drop out of the race, leaving the state party to nominate his son, the new AG. And I fear that, absent a Castle candidacy, the GOP will be caught flat-footed with an unviable candidate."

If you want to run an old Republican who would defeat Biden's son (if Biden's son was picked in a switcheroo), might as well draft former Governor Pete DuPont to run. He's only 5 years older than Castle, and is a solid conservative and a Delaware legend. If Castle ran for the Senate, we'd likely lose the House seat and not win the Senate seat anyhow, and if Castle did get elected he'd be pretty close to another Lincoln Chafee (and remember that Delaware gave President Bush 46%, not 39% as in Rhode Island).

And if DuPont won't run, there are plenty of moderate Republicans with decent name ID who could defeat Biden's son, so we don't need to resort to nominating an all-out liberal such as Castle.

Would he be saying that if he had Edwards' hair?

(Actually, he may alreay have Edwards' hair. Some people say that that's not Biden's own hair. I say that's a damnable lie. You pay $6,000 for something, you own it. That's what I say.)

He has everybody else laughing at him. All those black guys he called said they either shower or take a bath daily. He's like John Kerry's wife. Cursing in English with a foreign accent is very funny stuff!
