To: Bat_Chemist,

I purchased a Hi-point pistol, what a mistake. You get what you pay for, this pistol is poorly made. It has cheap sights
and have a hard time hitting the side of a barn. The pistol consistently jams, bullets fail to eject or fail
to move forward into the barrel. They have a warranty,
but you have to mail it back for repair by USP or FEDEX
which cost $50.00 plus because they don’t mail firearms
same day air... Please purchase your wife a more reliable
pistol, anything but a Hi-point..

So I’m looking over the web for a new handgun (the only one we own is my wife’s 9-shot .22, a pretty little piece, but not much for home defense). I came across the website for Hipoint firearms, makers of “polymer frame” handguns, and I thought, “Wouldn’t that be really unstable and fragile?” I wanted to get the opinions of the “strangers I trust” here at FR before I actually go drop a couple hundred there. And that’s the other thing...these guns are American made and inexpensive. Are they too good to be true?

i have read on here about all the bad things about hipoints i have 2 and have shot them with out any misfires or misfeeds of any kind with well over a 2000 rounds each and if any of you have had all the problems you say why havent you sent them back to get fixed for free ? i have shot mine with the high dollar gun boys at the club and drug it out up at camp perry and opened a few eyes 90% of the feed problems are the mag or type of ammo and as far as home defense a shot gun is to long can be taken away and as far as a 44 mag do you want to miss and have it pass into another room and maybe hit one of your loved ones the gun you feel the most comfortable with is the best one there are ranges that will rent you a gun and you can buy ammo and shoot them before you buy but there isnt any thing wrong with a hi point if all your going to use it for is in your house for protection its not cheap its call affordable with a life time warranty no matter who bought it
