WVNAN,

Thank you for your kind words.

You come from what is indeed the Greatest Generation.

Last week was the one year anniversary of my mom's death and she too was a product of the Depression and WW2.

My grandfather came from Italy at the beginning of the century and went to W. Virginia to work in the coal mines before joining the Army and fighting in WW1.

I truly wish that everyone who comes to this country loved America as much as he did even though he was injured and gassed and given 6 months to live.

Having survived many more years than he thought he would, he often told me that he would rather be dead in America than alive back in Italy.

He and my Father taught me what Love of Country means.

God Bless You.

GO RUDY!

What a great story! You are indeed from good stock. I wonder if your grandfather worked in the mines at Matewan. The reason I wonder is that there were many Italians who were brought in to work that mine. If you have never seen the movie "Matewan" be sure to find a CD or video and watch it. You will see what your grandfather lived through. And, I'm glad you have a deep love for the country. She has been a great experiment, but I fear for her now.
