A NASA astronaut is charged with attacking her rival for another astronaut's attention early Monday at Orlando International Airport, the Orlando Sentinel has learned.
Lisa Marie Nowak drove from Texas to meet the 1 a.m. flight of a younger woman who had also been seeing the male astronaut Nowak pined for, according to Orlando police.
Nowak -- who was a mission specialist on a Discovery launch last summer -- was wearing a trench coat and wig and had a knife, BB pistol, rubber tubing and plastic bags, reports show. Once U.S. Air Force Capt. Colleen Shipman arrived, Nowak followed her to the airport's Blue Lot for long-term parking, tried to get into Shipman's car and doused her with pepper spray, according to reports.

What does everyone want to find physiological reasons for bad behavior? There are millions of people every day who go through all kinds of very stressful situations and crises, menopause and on and on and they don't attempt to do serious harm to someone.
I can just accept that people often do bad things for selfish reasons. They want what they want and they are going to get it (damn it).

Precisely Velveeta. I can't believe people on here are posting that this woman was just being "silly" or trying to explain away her actions by hormones, etc.
She wanted something and she was going to do whatever she could do to get it. No different than the bank robber stealing money from the bank, the murderer killing the spouse of his lover, the embezzler stealing from his employer, or the rapist. I don't think she's nuts or crazy. People want to BELIEVE this because they don't want to believe people can be bad or evil with no medical reason.

It looks like Nowak wanted to be able to take Shipman down in the parking lot, and make her quietly disappear, leaving a mystery as to what happened. Evidence would have pointed to a serial-killer abduction
I've also noticed a lot of doctors and dentists that do this as well. I've always wondered about this.
I guess we're gonna need another keyword and ping list, huh?
Did Shipman call the cops and/or tell anyone at NASA? If not, why not? If she did, was anything done? If she did and nothing was done, why not?
