Space shuttle astronaut arrested at OIA on attempted kidnapping, battery charges
Orlando Sentinel ^ | February 5, 2007 | Henry Pierson Curtis

A NASA astronaut is charged with attacking her rival for another astronaut's attention early Monday at Orlando International Airport, the Orlando Sentinel has learned.

Lisa Marie Nowak drove from Texas to meet the 1 a.m. flight of a younger woman who had also been seeing the male astronaut Nowak pined for, according to Orlando police.

Nowak -- who was a mission specialist on a Discovery launch last summer -- was wearing a trench coat and wig and had a knife, BB pistol, rubber tubing and plastic bags, reports show. Once U.S. Air Force Capt. Colleen Shipman arrived, Nowak followed her to the airport's Blue Lot for long-term parking, tried to get into Shipman's car and doused her with pepper spray, according to reports.

There is a book out there called "Faces of Meth". It shows booking pictures of the same meth addicts over time. She looks about one third of the way down that path.

Her hair is prettier in the other picture. Is this one of those "before and after" makeover things?

Kinda makes you wonder if during the missions some of them were emulating the last scene in Moonraker?

That has meth junkie all over it. If she took out an ad in the nespaper saying, "I'm a meth junkie", it could be more obvious.

Oh great. A married female astronaut obsessed with memories of a romantic affair she had with a male colleague (who was incidentally crewmember on one of her space flights) goes after a younger woman scheduled to fly into space with the same object of her affections.

This tells me that astronauts Lisa Nowak and Willian Oefelein must have had a sexual encounter in space together.

I think someone at NASA needs to call astronaut William Oefelein into the director's office.

I think the astronaut corps has been under stress ever since its inception. Some can take it, some can't. Wife with three children and astronaut - that would drive a normal person nuts. Give her a break, it's probably her time to leave.
