Oh for the love of semantics!

Interpret it however you wish and I'll do the same.

Yes...that's all I was saying. The source is WND.....I don't like when Libs change things to back up their worldview, and I don't like when our side does it.

Class act. All the way...

Agreed....nice to see a well respected professional espouse his heartfelt belefs.....

Most of the time the MSM portrays anyone who has an inkling of faith to be a crazed right wing fanatic...

Kudos....

You are correct. Actually, I made a mistake in the original post. I should have omitted the "----"

See..again, interpretation...please show me where Dungy says he wants to be regarded as a CHRISTIAN coach instead of a Black coach. I don't see that. And furthermore, why does he have to have ANY label put upon him...he's a coach. Period.

Did somebody bring Rose Park into the discussion? I can dig that! Oh look, are those African Americans there? No, I think they're Asian Americans.

Tony Dungy says he is a Christian coach ALL the time. Make NO mistake about that. We here in Indy all are aware of this fact. He always makes sure that fact plays a very important role in his life. He has used his faith to inspire his team and its owner. He does not like to have color of skin an issue because it is irrelevant to his success.

Martin Luther King, Jr., looked to the day when people would be judged by their character rather than the color of their skin, and when we live in a color-blind society. Considering all the twittering by the white media over this Super Bowl, I guess we're not there yet.

The MSM isn't there yet -white or black - but Smith and Dungy ARE.

As they pointed out, it's all about their CHARACTER and INTEGRITY. Two things that have nothing at all to do with the color of their skin, and everything to do with the nature of their faith. They are "the real deal" - gentlemen whose actions are completely consistent with their stated beliefs.

They showed that you can succeed without compromising your beliefs or character. That you don't have to become a foul-mouthed lunatic to motivate people to give their best.

that is an extremely disingenuous headline...he didn't say he was MORE proud...leave it to our side for taking a wonderful moment and twisting it to look ugly.

I don't know what you think is being made to look ugly about his quote, but read the quote again. I've added emphasis to point out where he said what you said he didn't say.

But again, more than anything, I've said it before, Lovie Smith and I, not only the first two African-Americans, but Christian coaches showing that you can win doing it the Lord's way. And we're more proud of that.

I understand that...and I think he addressed that...my only point is that he didn't Say that he is "more proud of Christ than his blackness." He just didn't say that.

Which lead to my very first post which was about the title of this article from WND as being disingenuous...nothing else.

more proud than being the FIRST FIRST FIRST African Americans...that's a far cry from what the title implies.

If you use those exact words, you are right. He did not say that. But if you have listened to Dungy, his color is not more important than his love for Christ. In his faith he doen't see color an important issue like the media does. He is just a great human being. Coach Dungy.

FIRST FIRST FIRST African Americans

he didn't say that - he said 'first African Americans' - only once. He didn't emphasize it like you do.

That might be....but that's not what he said. My point was the headline was disingenuous. I don't like the media interpreting for me, that's all.
