The Libby trial finished for last week on Thursday with the start of the cross examination of FBI agent Deborah Bond, the interrogator who first questioned Libby. The cross examination revealed that Bond was hostile, that she had neglected to fully incorporate into her notes of the interview important portions of his testimony, most especially some matters that Libby's counsel had specifically asked be included. These were:

And the next time there's a president who agrees to the appointment of such a "special special prosecutor" and demands the cooperation of all officials and staff with it, everyone working for him should resign and take the Fifth.

Yep. That's very good advice.

this whole case just boggles my mind in the way the investigation was handle

The reporters get to review their notes .. after finding them under their desk in a plastic bag ... but Libby can't??

I like this part the most:

Fitz[gerald's] distillation of Libby's Russert related testimony bears little resemblance to his actual testimony. It sounds to me more like a man trying to provide as clear as possible an account of what transpired months previously to the best of his recollection, not someone trying to confuse. Given that he corrected his initial statements to the FBI, I don't see what interest of justice is served in pursuing him with a perjury or obstruction or false statement prosecution. The correction it seems to me obviates any obstacle to the investigators; therefore it's abusive to prosecute on such flimsy grounds.

Oh that the jury was going to be able to figure that out.

Prosecutor Fitzgerald may well fancy himself as the next Rudolph Guiliani. One of Fitzgerald's other cases, in Chicago, has targeted Democrat cronies of Mayor Daley. Fitzgerald also went after two New York Times reporters in connection with the leaking of the time and place of a federal raid on radical muslims. Had Fitzgerald walked away from the Plame case with no indictments the media would have branded him a "Republican prosecutor." So he set up perjury traps for Libby, Rove, Cheney and others and then went with the best case he had.

Is there any way that Fitzgerald can be charged w/prosecutorial misconduct?

More proof of what I have said over and over again. FITZFONG is the biggest sleaze bag in this whole affair.

lugsoul, how/why you keep trying to defend his shameful and inept performance is really puzzling.

As always, a good article by Clarice. Its getting scarier and scarier, and Fitzy should be Niphonged publically for what he has done here. Agent Bond gets back on the stand today (I think she is first up this morning); then on to Fitzy's video of Libby in the GJ and then Fat Dim Russert. I still think one of the most interesting parts of this whole fiasco, is the involvement by NBC. The Spitter, Fat Dim, Mrs. Greenspan and the crybaby Gregory. No other news organization has so many involved.

So, what you're saying is that this is trumped up to save Fitz's reputation.

So Scooter admitted right off the bat his memory was imperfect and he'd like to review his notes. And conveniently, Fitzgerald's office left out that part! We have another Nifong.

And this is the best advice ever:

"Indeed, that is my advice to all of you under the present circumstances, should you ever be questioned in an investigation: Lawyer up, unless the FBI gets honest and uses videotapes or prosecutors stop such nonsense."

Did you know that Fat Tim's son (who is also fat) has a sports talk show on Sirius with James Carville? The son is not yet out of college.

I wonder how much Fat Tim Jr. is paid, and by whom?
