A bigger government requires as many laws as possible; and as many lawyers as possible.

They can't beat conservatives in the marketplace so they are seeking to outlaw radio shows like Rush and Hannity.

They support free speech as long as you agree with them.

They support freedom of speech when someone agrees with them and support freedom from speech when someone disagrees with them.

A SUMMARY OF
THE COMMUNIST MANIFESTO

The Communist Manifesto represents a misguided philosophy, hich teaches the Citizens to give up their RIGHTS for the sake of the "common good," but it always ends in a police state. This is called preventive justice. Control is the key concept. Read carefully:
1. Abolition of private property.
2. Heavy progressive income tax.
3. Aboliton to all rights of
inheritance.

4. Confiscation of property of all
emigrants and rebels.
5. A Central bank
6. Government control of Communications
and Transportation
7. Government ownership of factories and
agriculture.
8. Government control of labor.
9. Corporate farms, regional planning.
10. Free education for all children in
govenment contolled schools

***needs more teeth in its regulation of broadcast outlets, telephones, the Internet and other services.***

Nice the way the WaPo hid that little item beneath all the blather about radio stations. What they want is for every organization which encourages people to contact their congresscritters, and which has 50 members or more, to report to the gov't. And that includes FreeRepublic. Jim Rob had a thread about it a couple of weeks ago.

But FCC Chairman Kevin J. Martin, who has close ties to the Bush White House, defended the agency's policies.

They want to stop all the violence on TV by sending in the stormtroopers to enforce more "peaceful" and no doubt more "diverse" entertainment.

I don't know what they mean by changes in public-interest broadcasting -- probably something bad. But on media ownership rules and limiting violence, I have to say I think the Democrats are probably right. This article, however, provides few details.
