I disagree. You do NOT pick up the squishy middle by being Democrat lite. You pick up the squishy middle by standing strong and running openly as the Anti DC candidate.

Every President but 1 for the last 35 years has been elected has run against DC. The candidate tied closest to DC loses. LBJ, Ford, Carter, GW Bush 1 LOST to candidates who ran as outside the current ruling Establishment. Even in Nov 2006 the Democrats ran AGAINST the ruling elite in DC. The only reason why GW Bush 1 won was he rode Reagan's coattails. A Congress critter can run against DC, a Senator cannot. For some reason the voters seem to put Congress critters and Senators in different categories.

Face it. You just do not like Hunter because he is not pretty enough. It sounds shallow but it is a factor in national politics. Don't dance around it. In a visual media age, physical attractiveness matters. Appearance probably cost Nixon the race in 1960 so you even have a point.

Sorry MNJ, you will have to do much better than that, Samantha is way above choosing a candidate solely for his looks. Could it be that we conservatives while nominating a candidate then are only allowed a 30% stake in that candidate at election time? Better check and see.

I agree MNJ, and have said in this forum that even though several here think Bill Richardson is a real threat, he is just too darn ugly! (In soul, as well as in body.)

You are way out of line about the looks angle. I was for Phil Gramm (homely)instead of Bob Dole, and I was for two or three others including Forbes( really homely) before GWB won the Primary. Johnson did not lose to an outsider, he declined to run. Jimmy Carter lost to a long time insider Governor, after he as a Governor won against GWB because of the "NO NEW Taxes" You are trying to put square pegs into round holes to suit your preference. Projecting? I think Duncan Hunter is one of the better looking candidates running and he has a lot more hair (preferred by voters and me)than Romney or Mccain or others. The bottom line is Gubernatorial experience, name recognition, ability to raise money, and get advanced teams in place in each of the important states like Florida. I was living in Washington DC at the time LBJ declined to run and was working at the Pentagon. Being accusatory, and angry will not get you any support for Hunter, it will turn folks the other way. You are not going to draw me into a peeing contest, yours will freeze and I will beat you...........HAH! Stay warm........
