Do you think that the bar only responded because of media coverage? That is hard to know. Surely, parent's lawyers had recourse thrugh legal channels.

There is another aspect to this that makes me cringe. The accuser has been dragged through the mud without any lawyer objecting on her behalf. Supposedly Nifong had st himself up as her protector, but that just means he has kept her incommunicado and away from her family. Meanwhile the contents of her vagina have been boradcast everywhere. Jesse Jackson has promised her a scholarship, but I think she needed Gloria Alread.

All the more reason to get rid of the Greta/Nancy Grace type sleezebucket programs.

Court and TV are two words that shouldn't be put together until there is a verdict to report IMO. Whatever occasional small good they do are greatly outweighed by the potential harm they can cause when these type of cases are tried under media glare.

Odds are good even the producers and stars of these programs are aware of that.

Yes, I DO think the bar only responded because of the publicity. If no one except attorneys knew about the DNA results, and the defense attorneys couldn't talk about it, how would the bar have ever known? Perhaps the defense could have filed with the bar, but without the publicity I imagine it would have fallen into the black hole so many others have .

I don't know the answer. I certainly think Greta and Nancy and shows like that are UN-helpful, for the most part. But imagine yourself in the Duke defendant's case while being prohibited from talking about the case to any reporter or media person. You are prohibited from discussing the case with anyone, and the jury and the prosecutor are getting ready to convict you in order to be able to trumpet this before the voter (which they can do AFTER you are convicted).

Not sure we could count on the bar to do anything, nor even the judge, for that matter.

The accuser has been dragged through the mud???? You have GOT to be kidding me. And even if you're not kidding me, either way your observation makes me sick.

Seems to me the FA dragged herself through the mud... the press just reported it.

I think she [the FA] needed Gloria Alread.

Well, peas in a pod, at least.
