What I don't understand is why the homosexual community aren't demanding quarantinesActivist Courtrooms have essentially defined "human behavior" as "free speech". Quarantining a preferentially preferred "lifestyle" would be an act of "discrimination".
I learned all this up close in San Francisco when the AIDS crisis in America, began. The few sensible gay leaders who did speak up for sensible measures were utterly silenced By Any Means Necessary.

Four men in King County have been diagnosed with a strain of HIV that is extremely hard to treat, and health officials are concerned it could spread further. At least two types of HIV drugs don't work against the strain, and another type has limited effectivenessJust as the CIA planned it.

"Does the CDC report that, in this country, we are all equally at risk for HIV/AIDS?"
I'm not aware of anybody or group that does claim that. The closest I have ever heard was along the lines of a statement of solidarity.

Wood said all of the infected men are gay and have had multiple partners, most anonymous. They also used methamphetamine, which tends to increase sexual activity.

In case you were not are aware, worldwide the largest HIV positive group is heterosexual Africans with the fastest spread among heterosexual women.I've been reading about this alleged African problem for a decade. For reasons completely unknown, the problem apparently remains confined to Africa. Anyways, I also read that they cure themselves by having sex with infants.

Actually, it was Bill Buckley who wrote that, but I'm sure he was being facetious.

Human behavior is "free speech", as long as it doesn't impinge on other people's rights. But when human behavior results in the death of others, it's murder and should be treated as such.

Quelle surprise! So presumably, we're supposed to be sympathetic and throw yet more millions at the problem...Of course. Who are we to judge them for having had promiscuous, gay, anonymous sex while high on meth? It could happen to anyone don't you know.

"I'm not aware of anybody or group that does claim that."There was an article, not too terribly long ago, right here on FR, which was basically saying just that. I will attempt to find and post a link.

The problem in Africa is completely different.
But a lot of illnesses and deaths in the US are preventable. Aren't you in favor of preventing people dying of AIDS?

"alleged African"
OK, to use the term "alleged" in reference to 25 million infected people is a little frightening. There is nothing alleged about it.
"For reasons completely unknown..."
Not totally true. There are a number or reasonable hypothesis being put forward, including general sexual practices with one male having multiple longterm female partners and possibly an increased rate of infection when a male is not circumcised.
"I also read that they cure themselves by having sex with infants."
Not sure what your point is here. Are you arguing for the funding of an Aids awareness campaign?

Nice use of the "have you stopped beating your wife" line of questioning.
Just because we agree on the goal, prevention of HIV infection, does not mean I have to agree with your methodology. Thats know as a false dichotomy.
It is entirely possible for me to want to minimize the rate of HIV infection while at the same time thinking your plan is moronic, wrong headed and inhumane. Which is the case we have at present.

Why is it more inhumane to quarantine say 1000 people and save 20000 lives, but it's not inhumane to allow said 1000 people to infect and kill 20000 lives.
My opinion has nothing to do with the sexual orientation of the infected people. It's just plain common sense to me.

Again with the false dichotomy. There is an option B, education.
"My opinion has nothing to do with the sexual orientation of the infected people. It's just plain common sense to me. "
The fact that you bring that up out of the blue makes me doubt your sincerity.

The Worldwide HIV/AIDS Pandemic * Worldwide HIV/AIDS Statistics
Number of people living with HIV/AIDS 36.1 million
Number of people living with HIV/AIDS who are men 18.3 million
Number of people living with HIV/AIDS who are women 16.4 million
Number of people living with HIV/AIDS who are children 1.4 million
Number of new HIV infections per year 5.3 million
Number of new HIV infections per day 15,000
Number of new HIV infections in developing countries 14,250
Women infected per day 7,050
Children infected per day 1,700
Cumulative number of people who have died from AIDS 21.8 million
http://www.whitehouse.gov/onap/facts.html
=====
These are devastating numbers. When you have such serious problem, you have to consider drastic solutions. Quarantining is really not that drastic. If these people aren't able to control themselves and not spread AIDS, don't you think they deserve to be removed from society, to keep them from killing others?
