BALTIMORE - Outspoken radio show host Tyrone Powers has filed notice with the state that he intends to sue Gov. Martin O'Malley for $88.9 million for abridging "his freedom of speech."
Powers' attorney Jimmy Bell sent a two-page letter of intent to the State Treasurer Nancy Kopp Tuesday. Powers, the former FBI agent and host of The Powers Report on Morgan State University's WEAA-88.9 FM, claims the station manager canceled his show because the governor wanted it "pulled off the air."
O'Malley spokesman Rick Abruzzese declined to comment on Powers' allegations.
Powers said at a Tuesday rally that his views and politics led to the cancellation. The Powers Report, which aired Tuesdays, often criticized O'Malleys administration policies.
"We are saving peoples lives by speaking the truth about the problems of this city," he said. "This is not about me, this is about the community, and we cannot let them run us out of here," he said.
Bell said that they are also asking for outside help in the letter.
"We need an outside agency to look into this, and decide if laws have been violated," Bell said.
Protesters gathered just outside Morgans campus to support Powers cause.
"This is definitely censorship," alumnus Troy Williams said. "The show should be back on the air."
But armed guards met the group as they marched to the universitys administration building. Powers entered the building but the protesters were denied admittance.
Talk show host Ed Norris of 105.7 FREE FM, who attended protest, said he could empathize with Powers.
"When my show first went on the air," the former Baltimore police commissioner said, "the mayors [OMalleys] people told me they would be taping it."
A spokesman for Morgan could not be reached by press time.
Graphically, it would look like this. Maryland.
Yes, we do. One of O'Malley's operatives. This guy is corrupt.
No, he's going afte r O'Malley becaue Marty Boy adn his family are extrremely intolerant of dissent. I hvae no doubt that they put extreme pressure on teh station, making them an offer they couldn't refuse.
Of course he does. He's King of Maryland, don't you know?
Becasue it'sa state university, and now that he is in state office he can do something about it. As Mayor, he had no power over the sttion. Now he does. It's called funding.
Maybe he thinks they voted for Steele! Liberals hate blacks who think fo rthemselves. They love blacks as longas they "know their place."

Maryland is going down the toilet.
Maryland is going down the toilet.
I noticed that there was no mention of the facts that Morgan State is a traditionally black school and Mr. Powers happens to be black.
Going?
Fans of radio talk show host Tyrone Powers protest Tuesday in front of Morgan State University in Baltimore. Powers has accused Gov. Martin OMalley of being behind the cancellation of his show on the campus radio station, WEAA-FM.
I loved him in "The Long Gray Line."
Hmm. I knew that, but I didn't think about it.
I'd make a lousy Democrat. I have no race-consciousness.
The Maryland Democrat Party brass in general and Pretty Boy Marty in particular seem to have a bit of a race problem. They demand all black votes but try very hard to make sure that there are no blacks in the power structure. They also absolutely hate any black person daring to criticize them - hence the very nasty personal attacks on Michael Steele.

Stree Lockdowns Proposed for Baltimore
BALTIMORE - A city council leader, alarmed by Baltimore’s rising homicide rate, wants to give the mayor the power to put troubled neighborhoods under virtual lockdown.
“Desperate measures are needed when we’re in desperate situations,” City Council Vice President Robert W. Curran told The (Baltimore) Sun. He said he would introduce the legislation next week.
BTW, Curran is O’Malley’s wife’s uncle. LOL.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Thanks for the post. I think, lol. Depressing stuff.
