| WASHINGTON, Feb. 2, 2007 The United States has no plans to go to war with Iran, but it wont tolerate Iranian activities that are endangering U.S. troops in Iraq, Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates told reporters today during a Pentagon news conference.
The president has made clear, the secretary of state has made clear, Ive made clear
we are not planning for a war with Iran, Gates said in response to a reporters question. |
really, what is the point of this statement. either bomb targets on the iranian side of the border used as staging areas for material and people into iraq, or stop "explaining" the situation with iran over and over again.
If this is true then all three of them, including the President need to resign their offices immediately.
Either they're lying or their incompetent.
In either case it's unacceptable.
L
So what will they do? Stamp their feet and hold their breath?
Gates said he doesnt know at this point if the Iranian government or rogue elements within Iran are involved.
If true, then he has no business holding the position he does!
So you've made clear exactly what shouldn't be made clear!! And you want attaboy points from me?
Time to tell them to stay out of Iraq or we'll hit them so hard the Madhi's turban will fall off.
Ahhh...Iran is a police state. Does that give you a clue Robert?
That was a haiku of common sense.
I want to hear my General say something like: "You're damn right we have plans to go to war with Iran. They cover everything from quick, violent decapitation strikes to turning the entire country into a glass covered parking lot that would be uninhabitable for a millenia."
"I have literally thousands of the best minds America has to offer doing nothing but planning how to wipe out pretty much any other nation on the planet. It's what I get paid for and I really, really like my job."
Now do any of you in the Press Corps have any other really stupid questions?"
But that's just me.
L
I don't believe these guys are lying or incompetent.
I think they are engaging in an act of disinformation to confuse, distract, or re-assure the enemy.
One day, we'll wake up, turn on the TV, and see the same thing on every channel; shock and awe over Iran....one of the biggest aerial bombardments in history.
Me thinks the gentleman Mr. Gates doth protest too much.
Perhaps you're correct.
But just once before I die I want to see an American General say something like that.
Just once.
L
Dear General Gates,
You might want to try bombing a few military bases on the Iranian side of the border. If you grease a few thousand Iranian Revolutionary Guards I'm sure the Mullahs may beging to see the error of their ways.
Failing that I suggest you target a few of the nastier ones on a more personal basis.
Just a thought.
Geez...70% of our people are being killed and maimed by Iranian weaponry and we have yet to destroy a single Iranian military asset. That's just maddening.
L
LOL LOL!!!
