http://www.rainn.org/statistics/ It looks like a girls chances of being raped have fallen to about 1:1,000. If she's raped, there's a chance the rapist has the virus.

If he does, there's a chance the girl might get infected.

If she does, there's a chance the virus may not last in her body.

It it does, there's only a slight chance that it could progress into cervical cancer.

Pap tests are very effective in diagnosing abnormalities early enough to make it very treatable.

So because there's a small chance that something bad might happen to a girl that might result in a miniscule chance of her developing cancer, you think it's perfectly justifiable for a governor to bypass normal legislative process and sign an executive order to require girls to get a vaccine to protect them from something they are not likely to die from anyway. Spoken like a true liberal.

That is something else that is very upsetting. So much money and contracts are being thrown around Texas, along with the upcoming land grabs, that are going to affect every Texan, and yet Texans aren't getting a chance to vote. We didn't get to vote on taxpayer-funded roads being turned into toll roads (and turned over to private entities), we didn't get to vote on the Corridor (just watch, I'm sure the Okies and Kansans won't get to vote on their segments either), we didn't get to vote on this.

It's very disturbing that the politicians in Texas, supposedly Republicans, are doing things without our input, especially when so many of us are against it. I've been to some of the Corridor meetings - several of which the majority of people there made it very clear they were opposed to it, and the government folks didn't seem to give a damn - they were just going through the motions of pretending to listen to us, so that later on they could tell the media they "consulted" with concerned citizens.

So if we take the number of women/amount of cervical cancer cases stats from post #588 (1/15,000) and compare them to the chances of being raped (1/1000), it means a girl is 15 times more likely to be raped than to get cervical cancer from an HPV virus.

That being the case, when are they going to start handgun training courses in schools to prevent this 'epidemic'?

:-)
