Maybe and maybe not. However I don't recall polio being a STD. This pulls the rug from under abstinence education and parental rights--waiver or no waiver.

I just don't see how abstinence education/parental rights have anything to do with a vaccine. When you take children to the doctor to get their MMR vaccine, do you tell them how each disease is contracted? It's not like your taking 'lil Suzy down to the Walgreen's and buying her a value pack of 20 condoms.

The girl could get HPV from a rape and women have gotten the disease from her husband. They could immunize the kids without mentioning what causes the disease;-)

As someone with a sister who has reproductive problems and has risks for cervical cancer among others I resent you calling cervical cancer an STD. Yes you can get it from being promiscuous but you can also get it for a host of other reasons. I don't see the need for a mandate, but I don't think it's an awful thing either.
