After reading this, I see little similarity between 08 and 1980.

Nah... he's just fine by this "GOP ultra-conservative."

The "substance" of your post not withstanding, can we please not have the language.

After reading this, I see little similarity between 08 and 1980. Well, they have the digits "0" and "8" in common, just reversed. And "19" is only one less than "20," which you'll admit is extremely close.
And so, you see, the electoral politics must be exactly the same. Even if they're different in all the particulars.

Double Horseshit! "Just like 1980" is this guy dreaming?
Economy sure is in the dumps! Where does this guy live?
The only line that is close to the truth is "Barack Obama is a dark horse" and that is close to a racial slur.

This is a HUGE stretch. Beyond "stretch." The guy's point snapped like the waistband on Ted Kennedy's speedo.

Yes, the economy stunk in 1980 and smells fairly fragrant now.Hyperbolic nonsense from the right is no more helpful than from the left.

Just fine with me too. From the looks of the replies, I should've just snipped the closing. LOL
Here's one last name to add to the mix. Republican California Congressman Duncan Hunter. He is running on a shoestring budget, but he's tapped into growing skepticism among conservatives over so-called free trade, from which countries like China seem to get all the benefit.
Hunter also wants not one, but several fences along the U.S.-Mexico border.
He may be too extreme even for some GOP ultra-conservatives. And yet, he might loosen things up enough to force the other candidates to produce from among themselves a real Republican candidate with new, real ideas.
Just like in 1980.

I see no similarities.
If any similarities, I'd say it's more like 1968...but that's not right either.
To: Domandred
You're the third to post something that doesn't make any sense.
In 1980 the economy did stink! Today it has that fragrant smell of success.
The writers analogies were off base, but its a fact. Even after his excellent effort in 1976, Reagan wasn't embraced early on. At this point of the campaign, the connection between Hunter and Reagan has some legitimacy. Duncan Hunter is a loyal Republican and he seems to hold the right positions on issues that matter most to conservatives. A lot more then McCain, Mitt or Rudy has shown up till this point.
