Apparently one neighborhood around New Smyrna Beach was hit hard but nobody was killed or seriously hurt there.

That is what I'm thinking. She is not on the computer either which makes me wonder if she lost power.

I'm glad you're okay; you and Leni are the first ones I thought about -- and then I remembered all the rest of you guys!
Not a good way to wake up! You all stay safe!
RedBloodedAmerican is in the NSB area! Haven't heard from him.

Probably will take another 2-3 hurricanes before they seriously look at doing anything about trailer parks in Florida. They did something about trailers and codes, first after Andrew and then again after our tornados in 1998. We get them, but not often and not in strength.
These can be compared easily to the tornados of 1998. Same time of year, same weather pattern, same strength. Right now they are eyeballing F2, possibly F3.
In 1998 we had 42 people killed in the Orlando area. Destruction wise, this bunch is much worse than then.

Thanks, Strat; we can always count on you!
Is this the same storm that was in the warnings around Destin and the Panhandle yesterday, or is it another one?

Just missed us, too! Scary night, high winds, heavy rain and tornado warnings. We're on the edge of Marion/Citrus.

The problem is there are so many that still exist. But, if this keeps up they'll phase themselves out.

Yes, I checked my messages---just to be sure-- and there was a 'Tornado Watch' at 12:50AM....(we were sound asleep_
There was a Tornado Warning at 6 ish AM, computers were not turned on....and it seems most of the damage had been done across the state by then.
When I turned on the computer (around 7:30AM), we had a Tornado Warning Cancelled.
What I meant is there was no mention of this at 10ish last night before we turned off the computer......nothing, zilch, zero

They just announced tornado warnings again - several in effect right now - around Cape Canaveral area - do you have those on your weather site? I couldn't catch the whole list of affected areas.

That's probably likely. She's fine but has no power and who knows, her phone may have been low and her charger didn't catch up before the power went out. Hang in there.

To be honest I wasn't following the weather there that closely yesterday but it's the same general system....only reason I noticed is I got up early for no reason and looked at the Easternuswx board and saw a thread on severe weather associated with it that had suddenly had a bunch of new posts overnight.
