Just to keep in perspective, especially for new visitors to the topic, who may wonder why we persevere, here is a powerful reminder. Scott Thomas was rescued from the executioner's axe and the same machine that killed Terri Schiavo and countless others who remained under the radar.

Visitors can read the story on their website and those of us familiar with his plight can see new pictures of Scott as he recovers from the attempted doom. The antidote to evil attempts is apparent in the love from his family.

Canada, under the new conservative PM, Stephen Harper, seems to be eager to help its disabled citizens instead of killing them. Here are Mr. Harper and two patients with spinal injuries. If Judge Greer had had any human decency, Terri Schiavo -- who suffered a broken back at the hands of a mysterious assailant on 2/25/90 -- might have been treated for her injuries.

Great to see Msgr. Malanowski giving his blessing to Scott and Scott's family, and to this meeting with the Schindlers. Both families have suffered much from evil, but both come away with a life richer and deeper for all they have been through. By faith they have conquered.
