I don't know about anyone else, but I am still waiting for Michael Schiavo to make a correction on his blog about what "actually" took place in Colorado when he went there (to the debate) to supposedly ask Congresswoman Musgrave one question and she and her staff supposedly tried to have him removed. He called it, "My unreal night in Colorado - with radio link" (Thu Oct 26, 2006 at 08:05:14 PM PST). I'll say (from what I read) that it was his "unreal night".
As I said before in "Standing up and Admitting a Mistake: Not Schiavo's Style?", if four uniformed officers were around my seat, I would have some idea of what was going on. I certainly wouldn't be sitting in "duh mode" to only be told later of what took place right there around me, as Michael suggests he was. If Michael's account is realistic -- his response and reaction is not. Nor is his response appropriate now that he has "learned" what he was "allegedly told" is not what took place. One would think if he can't get the words out that he was mistaken, he could at least have removed the inaccurate entry from his blog.
He has done neither.
I'm also still waiting to read about, "Also, maybe tomorrow I'll post about my election-eve rally with Bill Clinton in Florida." (A real election impact by Michael Schiavo, Thu Nov 09, 2006 at 10:40:34 AM PST). Indeed, I would love to read that story by Michael, since I read it was not possible. Not if he was implying it was the Bill Clinton that is the former President of the United States. Will be interesting to see what he says about that if he ever does.
If Michael couldn't get it straight what happened at the Musgrave debate or even if he spent election-eve with former President Bill Clinton -- do you suppose he might have gotten Terri Schiavo's wishes mixed-up as well? (He does claim to have a bad memory from what I read.) Makes one wonder. At least makes me wonder. Whatever...
I'm still waiting for the corrections if not the explanations!

You got it! leave your wife dying on the floor and dont call 911 for possibly hours! and then you call her father instead of 911 and then you spend the next twelve years killing her slowly and agonizingly and then you accomplish your tragic goal and the Left treats you like a Rock Star and hero! Sick,Sick,Sick!!
At least in the case of Rebecca, it was not DSS who committed the atrocity as it almost was with Haleigh. That little mishap keeps falling through the gaping hole of public attention.
The Boston Globe, Boston com reports
................................
The Department of Social Services commissioner, Harry Spence, is right: Rebecca Riley "did not fall through the cracks" of the state's child protection services. She fell through the gaping holes.
The 4-year-old girl died in December of an overdose of powerful drugs administered by deeply troubled parents under DSS supervision who now stand accused of first-degree murder.
Attention is rightly focused on them and on the child psychiatrist who placed the preschooler on high doses of three psychotropic drugs tested and approved only for use by adults. Of all the medical specialties, psychiatry is especially vulnerable to rogue practitioners who too often rely on trial and error to find effective treatments.
But it would be a mistake to let pass Spence's bold assertion that DSS is blameless because it lacks the expertise to question an at-risk child's treating physician. That is a stunning cop-out after all we learned from Haleigh Poutre , the now 12-year-old girl who was beaten into a coma in 2005 , allegedly by her adoptive mother and stepfather. In that case, a legislative investigation concluded that DSS had defied common sense and multiple warnings in deferring to doctors who claimed the girl's bruises were self-inflicted.
Why didn't Rebecca Riley benefit from the lessons of the Poutre case? Everyone from social workers to her preschool teachers raised the alarm about her overmedication. No action was taken, said Spence, because he has been unable to recruit physicians willing to review questionable treatment plans and, if necessary, criticize professional colleagues. "I will assure you that if we get additional medical personnel, our capacity to assess the medical quality of children will improve," Spence said at a press conference last week. "My hope would be that, as a result, lives that otherwise might be lost could be saved."

Too late to save Rebecca Jeanne Riley, state human services officials are trying to fill the holes in a system that allowed a four-year-old girl to be prescribed powerful behavior drugs when she was just 28 months old - drugs that wound up killing her.
Many troubling questions are raised by the toddlers overdose death on Dec. 13 in her parents Hull home - questions that must be answered not just to find out what happened in Rebeccas case, but to prevent future tragedies.
While parents Michael and Carolyn Riley sit in jail on charges of deliberately overmedicating their daughter to death, the public is left to wonder, for starters, how a psychiatric doctor could have diagnosed a 28-month-old with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and bipolar disorder.

This is why Republicans lost elections across the country. Consider three cases in point: overspending, corruption and the Terri Schiavo controversy.
Snip...
To a lesser extent, the Schiavo dispute was perceived by the public as another betrayal of conservative principles. Technically, this was a case about court jurisdiction, which is relevant for Congress to consider.
Nonetheless, it was perceived as the ultimate big-government intrusion into a family affair.

Going to school at four?? Ye gods.
Looks like attention is settling down to blame at a level not well examined, the atrocious behavior of the quacks. 'Bout time.
Staying the course on the path down the slippery slope, Switzerland's highest court ruled on Friday, February 2, to allow assisted suicide to those with serious mental disorders - furthering the "right to die" and "culture of death" propaganda that has seized the world. The court claims that the standards to permit assisted suicide to the mentally ill are such that "it must be recognized that an incurable, permanent, serious mental disorder can cause similar suffering as a physical (disorder), making life appear unbearable to the patient in the long term."
The unbridled court decision is full of holes in its arguments - including its largest: allowing a mentally unstable person to be allowed to make a decision to end their own life with the help of a doctor.

CLEVELAND -- Prosecutors in Ohio's most populous county said they'll no longer block the local organ bank if it wants to remove organs from people who are not yet brain dead.
Most organs are removed for donation only after the brain ceases all activity. But nationwide there has been growing use a more complicated procedure to remove the organs after the heart stops working.
Three such donations were done in Akron last year.

Each year, 68,000 women worldwide die of abortion and 144,000 American women are injured by abortion. The media has not reported adequately on the harms and dangers of abortion, but a new booklet produced by United Families International provides a unique and comprehensive look at social science research and history in a way that will open people's eyes to the reality of abortion. The Guide to Family Issues: Abortion is the latest in UFI's ongoing series of guide books on hot topics impacting the family.

That's the moral collapse right there. Instead of following God's law, standing for principle and doing the right thing, we follow the voting results. And then we try to figure those out by reading voters' minds. This isn't leadership, it is political panic. Maybe what the voters really "perceive" is that Republicans can't lead a cow to a haystack.

As I recall it, he didn't call 911 until he was told to. (Wasn't that in the testimony?) By some accounts the Schindlers made the call, but I'm not sure which version is true. In any case, the whole timeline is in doubt. Only Michael knows how long Terri lay there untended, aggravating her anoxic injury.
What we do know from the first witness on the scene, Bobby, is that Michael was unglued. He was sitting on the couch in the living room (or something like that), completely out of it. Hysterical. To me, that suggests that it was not premeditated murder. He meant to punish her, not kill her. But there she was, apparently dead, and he's panicked and thinking, "Oh, my God, what have I done?"
By Michael's account, he did not attempt to administer CPR, which we can believe. He said he flipped her onto her back and cradled her, which is ridiculous. The two sober witnesses, Bobby and the EMS medic, both said she was on her stomach. I don't figure why Michael tried to lie about such a simple point, unless it was denial that he'd been on her back. All three said she was not breathing and all three said she was making gurgling noises.
Getting back to your first point -- I'd say it's obvious that Michael was afraid to call 911.
Your further thoughts?
Things have certainly gotten better since the days when a relative handful of women died in back alleys from illegal abortions. Now that abortions are legal and encouraged, we kill women wholesale! And in modern hygienic conditions!
Much better.

Sometime before dawn on February 25, 1990, Terri's father, Bob Schindler, Sr. was awakened by a desperate phone call. It was Michael. He stated that he had, ".....gotten out of bed and found Terri lying on the bathroom floor and he thought she was dying." Bob Sr. was surprised when he asked Michael if he had called 911 and he said no. He told him to hang up immediately and call 911. He hung up himself and immediately called his son, Bobby, who lived in the same complex as Terri and Michael, told him of Michael's phone call and told him to go over to her apartment.
And on page 21,
Most troubling is discerning at what point Michael felt a need for having his attorney present. Did he call the attorney before or after he called Bob, Sr.? Did he call the attorney before or after he called 911? Did he call the attorney from the ER? At what point in this emotionally charged and anxiety-filled situation does one stop and decide, "Maybe I should have an attorney present"? Regardless of when Mr. Grieco decided to appear at the hospital, his motivation was presumptious, at best, and Michael's explanation appears contrived.
And on page 22,
To this day, Terri's case remains, according to calls made to the St. Petersburg Police Department, an unsolved, uninvestigated, OPEN, COLD-CASE file in the HOMICIDE division of the St. Petersburg Police Department. They claim to have been ordered not to investigate it, or any other complaints involving Michael Schiavo, "...at the direction of the State Attorney's office and Judge Greer."

HALEIGH POUTRE: The 11-year-old from Westfield was savagely beaten into a coma Sept. 11, 2005, allegedly at the hands of her adoptive parents, Holli and Jason Strickland, who were charged in the assault. The Stricklands told social workers Haleigh was hurting herself and lying about her injuries.
DSS had involvement since 1999:
1999: A foster parent aide told case workers she had serious fears about Haleighs adoptive mom;
1998-2001: Monthly home visits not done or not frequent enough given Haleighs history;
1998-2000: Therapists notes indicate warnings about Haleighs adoptive parents, but validity of claims never probed.Neither therapist observed lying patterns.
2001-2005: 14 reports of abuse or neglect filed regarding Haleigh;
August 2005: DSS attempts to remove Haleigh from her home are fought by other providers.
Sept. 11, 2005: Beating leaves Haleigh comatose.
Fall 2005: DSS prematurely tries to remove Haleigh from life support, but courts halt it. Haleigh is a ward of the state and living at a childrens rehabilitation hospital.
REBECCA RILEY: The 4-year-old was found dead Dec. 13 at her Hull home after what prosecutors say was a painful death over several days. Her parents, Carolyn and Michael Riley, are accused of drugging her to death. Over 17 months, a doctor, school nurse, pharmacist and therapist raised concerns to DSS on Rebeccas overmedication:
2002: DSS investigates complaint of abuse against Carolyn Riley;
June 2005: Michael Riley allegedly sexually assaults his wifes 13-year-old daughter from a prior relationship. Hes released on bail;
October 2005: Rebeccas psychiatrist learns Carolyn Riley is giving Rebecca excess Clonidine.
May 2006: Social worker raises concerns about the amount and type of Rebeccas medication;
June 2006: DSS investigates the medical care and treatment of Carolyn Riley and her three kids and determines that the familys care is appropriate;
July 2006: Two complaints of abuse and neglect filed alleging that Carolyn Riley appeared heavily drugged and that Michael Riley hit his 6-year-old daughter.
Nov. 3, 2006: School nurse raises alarm about Rebeccas lethargy;
Dec. 12, 2006: After repeated attempts to reach Carolyn Riley, a DSS supervisor authorizes unsupervised visit at familys Hull home for coming days.
Dec. 13, 2006:, Rebecca dies.

Remember when George W. Bush was the "MBA President" who had all the right "experience" from the business world? Remember the George W. Bush who had a "great resume" as Governor of Texas? Well, after eight years of the horrifying experience that has been President George W. Bush, perhaps we as Americans want something, and SOMEONE, new. Perhaps, we are sick of the same old game of playing politics with everything from climate change to Iraq... To all the nonsense over flags and queers and Terri Schiavo. Perhaps, we are ready for someone who will move us beyond the old political games of the past and start getting things done for the good of the nation:...............................................................
