I think elephants are described as musky, attics and basements are musty.

I thought elephants were described as tusky.

Unless they've been stored in the basement and so can be described as musty, or tusky-musty.

They could be.
A musty, musky elephant would really be stinky, but I'd avoid saying it to his face as he might spear you with those tuskys.
