"Wow, I know a lot of big evangelical churches in the U.S. are planning to show the game on huge screens to large groups of people this Sunday."
They promoting it as a "Super Bowl" party and charging admission for the purpose of turning a profit?
No admission fees, but on huge screens and advertised as a Super Bowl party.
I really doubt they realize they are violating any rules.
That isn't happening much...the profit part, that is. They may have been covering the cost of refreshments. I think groups are just getting together to eat and party, but the shin-digs are at God's Houses.
Three things to avoid trouble: 1) Have LOTS of small TVs in different rooms 2) Bring in the food 3) Don't charge to use God's House as a Bear Den.
Been there, done that, God wasn't too happy with the idea.
This church wasn't making a profit. They originally planned to collect money to pay for snacks. They dropped that idea. It wasn't the money, it's that the people will be a church which will emphasise the religion of the participants.
