“Hillary will give Republicans the same gift she gave them in 1994” — and they’ll win the presidency in 2012, but thanks to demographic shifts favoring Republicans (namely the rising Hispanic and African-American populations), “that will be the last Republican president we’ll ever see.”

OK, did Dickie the Toe Sucker mean "favoring Democrats" or did he mean "last Democratic president"? Because I don't see how demographic shifts favoring the Republicans will result in the last Republican president we'll ever see.

It's a silly prediction anyway. Even if demographic shifts do turn the nation left, the parties would just realign along the new axis to accomodate it. The two-party system is too deeply written into this country's governing structure to be erased like Morris cavalierly concludes.

Repub. party is abandoning its base. The truly conservative & libertarian members are tired of RINOs, and just need a good solid independent to run after.

Don't dismiss those who increasingly talk of voting third-party. The Republican party used to be the "third party" too; we don't hear much about the Whigs anymore, do we?
