You too!
Please tell your son good luck and good hunting for us.
And, tell him to tell his brethren, that will not allow what was done to our generation of veterans be done to his.
They can take that to the bank!

Thank you and I'll tell him.
BTW, if it looks like these folks are going to be allowed to swarm the Wall and the memorial grounds, I'll be back down there. It's a special place for many.

I do not think anyone has ever said that it was spray painted.
Many of us take great umbrage at the fact that it is planned to be the rally point for the upcoming antiwar protest.
That is a defilement of hallowed ground in and of itself, therefore it should be prevented. (Peacefully)

Good afternoon.
The Wall is an example of how so much of what the Left tries to do rebounds on it.
They made the People fund it's construction and purposly deviated from classic war memorial design to choose a design that was called the Black Wall of Shame. Nevertheless it has grown into the most visited memorial in DC and it helps to insulate us against the Leftist criminals.
I haven't been able bring myself to go there, yet it calms me.

Reply Mail from the National Park Service
Dear Sir:
I forwarded your E-mail attachment to the National Park Service employee and U.S. Park Police Sergeant who will be meeting with applicants for a public gathering permit for a large march/demonstration on 17 MAR 07. At this time, it is accurate to state that the National Park Service has issued no permit for any event starting at the Wall of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, on that date. As I mentioned on the telephone, there are special regulations, found at Title 36, United States Code of Federal Regulations, Section 7.97, which protect core Vietnam Veterans Memorial areas and resources from such activities.
As my Supervisor directed, I have requested the National Park Service employee responsible for reviewing any public gathering permit application, as described above, to respond to the concerns you expressed on the telephone this morning, via E-mail. Thank you for your time.

In other words the website is lying they have not yet gotten a permit, now is the time to fight with the pen we must get this information out asap....people need to clog their Congressmen and Senators and the National Park Service with E-mails and phone calls! They can't be allowed to be anywhere near any Memorial! Thats what the streets are for the gutter and the garbage. Please forward this far and wide! Also this doesn't mean we shouldn't get as many Vietnam Veterans as possible to DC I remember another time long ago when WE needed America to support us and they didn't....we need to support our troops and their mission!

Any chance we can get the name address/email address and phone contact number for this said: "National Park Service employee responsible for reviewing any public gathering permit application," I take it he is a ranking supervisor of some kind?
I am sure he'd like to hear from us.
I am sure my local radio talk show (50K Watts) host would like it as well. ;-)
I will be in contact with him in the AM to alert him of this entire imbroglio surrounding the wall and protest. He'll be on it like white on rice. If he had his number he'd get him on the air and ask him a few things.
Suggest all reading this do the same. Contact your local radio, TV,and newspaper news editors, and tell them how you feel about this proposed sacrilege. Don't wait for someone else to do it.

Sorry to have misread what you wrote. I just hope I was the only one. Indeed, as you note, there were other incidents including a minor spray painting of some of the steps to the US Capitol. That was cleaned immediately with no lasting damage. Never-the-less that is reprehensible conduct.

Springfield, VA--"Don't touch the Vietnam Memorial Wall," said Tom Poulter, National Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH), speaking to potential anti-war demonstrators who plan on gathering there on March 17th.
"Fifty eight thousand men and boys fought and died so you could demonstrate in peace. To dishonor them by defacing the Wall is unthinkable," Poulter continued.
"We respect the right to demonstrate. We do not respect the right to defile or deface sacred places like the Vietnam Wall. Our members, many of whom were wounded in Vietnam, are outraged that protesters would even consider gathering near the Wall. That is hallowed ground to us who shed our blood on the soils of Vietnam."
The MOPH commander was livid when he learned of the planned gathering near the Wall to begin an anti-war demonstration on March 17th.
"It would be best for those people to gather some other place. In fact, there will be many Vietnam veterans guarding the Wall and I can assure you it will not be a peaceful situation should anti-war demonstrators try to damage or deface the memorial."
"There are those who will demonstrate who are not worthy enough to stand near the Wall, much less touch it."
The majority of the 40,000 members of the MOPH were wounded in Vietnam.
