She may have the handlers to get her there, but once she up on the stage her old instincts kick in. Hence the reputation that she gets for being shrilled will get more widespread coverage.

She held her own against Spencer. The MSM will feed her softball questions or give them to her beforehand. And she can always fall back on victimhood and being a woman.

Kid-glove treatment?" She's been getting that for the past 15 years! Do you think the Dems in the race DON'T want to win it? They'll try to be as down and dirty and nasty as she is. (They can't because they don't have the machinery, but they will try.)

The other Dems in the race are vying to be VP. They are not going to be "down and dirty and nasty as she is." Also, Hillary is much more skillful at eliminating her opponents without direct confrontation. Witness the indirect attacks against Obama's Muslim background and the huge Edward's estate. Hilliary's ops research group just feeds this stuff [thru surrogates] to the MSM and then denies any association with it and blames it on the Reps.

Over the years I have seen the pundits and some FReepers opine that Hillary would not run for the Senate in NY, that she couldn't win, and that she wouldn't run for President. Now many are saying she can't win the Dem nomination and can't be elected President. We understimate her at our own peril. She has the money, ambition, political organization, and cunning to be President. The Reps have to choose the right candidate to beat her and realize that the MSM will do everything it can to have her elected.

She held her own against Spencer.

To which, again, I'll say: WHO?? Another nobody. Granted, he was a better-versed nobody than Lazio. But it was a meaningless debate for the press not for the masses. The other folks she's going to go toe-to-toe with have been around the block a little more. And she has to keep this up for the next 12-16 months, not for a short 12-week campaign. Over the years I have seen the pundits and some FReepers opine that Hillary would not run for the Senate in NY, that she couldn't win, and that she wouldn't run for President. And none of those describe me. She can win both. But it aint no lock. And right now, I'm not entirely certain that she's going to get it.

And Edwards is not running for VP. He's already done that. He'd be a fool to take the slot again and Hillary would be a bigger fool to nominate him. The other Dems aren't going to roll over for her. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
