This could be a first. The reaction on the DU thread to Biden's remark is quite similar to the reaction here.

LOL..... Biden should be in deep Macaca now, but will the MSM decide that he has to go?? If nothing else, just to try to preserve their pretence of non-partisanship, you'd think this should quickly become Biden's very own Trent Lott/George Allen moment.....he should lose his chairmanship and his presidential candidacy!!
After all, his literal words DO imply that NO "mainstream African-American" is articulate, bright, clean, and nice-looking.... at least among the males. Take that, Jesse and Al, and most of the Congressional Black Caucus!! Biden just dissed you badly, now what are you going to do about it?
I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,

I'd love to be a fly on the wall listening to Biden's handlers trying to figure out how in the hell they're going to try to spin this.
To: dfwgator
As per Joe Biden, does this mean Charley Rangel, John Conyers, Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton are not so clean?? Biden's a typical lib racist who will get a free pass on his racism.
To: Semi Civil Servant
Remember that Biden has no deep or broad support among the left-liberals, so it could be easy for them to trash him now to try to show they are not totally deranged and biased (though they are). I doubt there will be much of a constituency trying to preserve his "viability" as a presidential candidate when he was never exactly viable in the first place..... he's been running on his gargantuan ego and not much else.

My dad always said that white people who always raise the issue of race in order to show how non-racist they are, are probably the biggest racists of all. After listening to people like Biden, I'm inclined to agree.

Especially when Phil Hartman as Ted Kennedy asked Thomas:
"Were you, uh..(audience laughs because of the Massachusetts accent) were you drunk at the time?
To: Enchante
Agreed. He has almost nothing to fall back on.

A little rough on old Biden, aren't we?
After all, if one of us had a brain tumor followed by 3,000 hairplug transplants, some of which became seriously infected, God only knows what we would say about Barack Husein Obama.
Also, since Biden is a flagrant plagiarist, who knows who really said this first? BTW, my hat is in the ring as a Constitutional Party candidate for president. "My platform," you ask? I am pushing for an amendment that would give Rhode Island and Delaware one Senator between them. He must be a native of Ohio, and is to be chosen by an clean and fair election by the flag officers of the Down East Yacht Club of Bar Harbor.
I was going to call it the "Rump State Amendment," but I cannot afford to be seen as homophobic when I am scrambling for every vote. Waddayathink of Ray Nagin in the Veep slot?

An excellent point. The Dem frontrunners are Hillary, Obama, and Edwards. Biden is expendable.

Just like when Dems assure us that they're tough on defense.
To: mainepatsfan
Yep, I remember that. It was classic.

Back when that show had a boat load of talent.

I can answer that question. It won't.

"Ray Nagin"
Yesterday there was an A.P. story in which Nagin was complaining that racism and class bias and the war in Iraq were slowing down the recovery of New Orleans from hurricane Katrina. Then, in paragraph seven, it mentioned that more than half of the $334 million in federal aid to New Orleans had not been claimed because the city (i.e., Nagin) had not filled out the required paperwork.

Frankly, I never understood what was so bad about what Byrd said. He's saying something that I've said before, that it's not the color of a man's skin but the content of his character that determines whether he's a n------ or something else.
Besides, bein' uh wiggah is more popular than ever now. 'sup, homey, peacce out.

I would correct that and state that they are 'probably the ones most afraid of being labeled as racist'
There aint a whole lot of true racism anymore- there is however a powerful lot of fear of being labeled as racist, and awkward statements that result.
Everyone is intentionally looking for somethign to jump on someone about claiming they;ve been offended. Political correctness has taken over the rascist top spot as the most despicable form of 'race-relations'
To see true racism in action- just look at Jimmy Carter. whoi makes no bones about hiding his blatant racism.
Don't get me wtrong- I'm not sticking up for Biden- I think he's a despicable man with dangerous ideology- however I don't believe he is racist- I think political correctness has skewed common sense
