I'm not so sure that's Rudy is a pro-illegal.
This is from National Review online last night:
A friend of mine was at a fundraiser for Rudy Giuliani in Los Angeles last night. His walkaway thought: [Rudy] might have a tough time in the primary but he will crush in the general.
Said friend says of last night: I have to tell you the man is very impressive. When he talks about the war on terror he does so more clearly than anyone I have heard including the President. He doesn't bash the President ever and this was LA where he could really get away with it.
Rudy did an immigration bit that was to the right of everyone else except maybe Tancredo. He talked about immigration in terms of national security. He said we needed to revamp our entire system so that we can get good people. He also said that if the twelve million already here expected to get any type of citizenship they would have to prove that they could read, write, and speak English.
The fundraiser was sponsored by Bill Simon (who worked with Rudy in the U.S. Attorneys office). My friend, who is the rare pro-life, Hollywood hawk, left wondering if he could support Rudy if it came to that. We all know where Rudy is on abortion but my question is what does he think of Judges Roberts and Alito? If he says that he would appoint judges of like mind then I think he can skate on the abortion issue because it does come down to the judges. It was Hollywood though so no one asked about any social issues.

Some freepers have posted links that Rudy has said that Justice Roberts is his ideal as a Supreme Court judge.
I don't like Rudy; he ought to be Democrat. But you have to focus on what is important and what he can really affect. The war is one, and DC waste might be another. I fear the type of judges he might appoint, but Bush the Elder wasn't so good, either.
I still won't vote for McCain come Hell, or Hillary!.
Nussle could've had me convinced he was persuaded, but this seems his contradiction.
"As a proud and consistent conservative Republican, I want our Party and our ideas to have a voice. Even more importantly, I want our Party and our ideas to achieve meaningful results.
Perfect has become the enemy of the good, and we saw that borne out during this past Novembers elections."
So one simply abandons "Party and our ideas" because he holds a misconception of November's defeat wrongly believing it was a rejection of those principles and not a rejection of the scandals and belligerence? I'd say it exposes a shaky belief in those principles upon which Mr. Nussle stands. 'Course, I've been wrong before too...
Supreme Court Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito are models of what judges should be in this country. They are principled individuals who can be trusted to defend the original intent of the Constitution rather than trying to legislate their own political beliefs from the bench.

While in Ohio, Rudy called into the Bill Cunningham radio show. Speaking about the Supreme Court, Rudy said: "Justices Roberts and Alito were both colleagues of mine [in the Reagan Justice Department] - people I worked with and I admire tremendously. I thought that they were inspired choices that the President made - inspired in many ways, because they also were people who had a strong conservative background and strict constructionists." He added, "Justice Scalia was also a colleague of mine...and he probably would have been my choice for Chief Justice."
LOL. We found that quote at the same time.

Jury is still out on Alito and Roberts. Lets see what they're like in five years. Too many justices have "grown" on the bench.
Still, I'll take an Alito or Roberts over a Miers or Souter any day.
Actually you are both right. Independents and Moderates abandoned the Republicans because of their "holier than thou" attitude when all the while they were just as corrupt as the Democrats they made fun of. And they also abandoned them because they were tired of social issues - Alot of the Republicans ran only on social issues - that does not hold well for Independents and Moderates. They are more open than that and are NOT single issue voters - Republicans assumed they could win with just the Republican/Conservative vote. While that may have been the case in 2000 it is not the case anymore.
A Giuliani presidency has far more positives than a Hillary or Obama one - the former would bring a Bill Restoration, the latter would be disastrous due to the complete inexperience of the man.
Anyone who believes otherwise needs to think about how Speaker Nancy Pelosi is working out.

We're good! ;-)
Wanted Scalia as Chief Justice? That's a winner. One more in the "good" box for Guiliani.

Let me know what you think.
I'll be waiting for that. That is also tied to the trial lawyer issue where he seems to get some support. Will he reverse his position on the use of trial lawyers to bankrupt gun companies and raise prices for law abiding gun owners?
To me Hunter has the physical image of a leader, strong not retreating in his interviews

Well, you know why Miers could've never been a USSC Justice, don't you?
'Cause she was never married. Had she'd become benched, she'd have become the United States Supreme Court's Miss Judge.
That says it all. I'm new to FR and I'm a Rudy convert. Keep "PINGING".

Candidates make lots of hollow statements during campaigns. At the link, you can read about where he can see little difference between Roberts & Ginsburg.
