Hutchison opens door to No. 2 spot on ticket
The Washington Times ^ | January 30, 2007 | Ralph Z. Hallow

Posted on 01/30/2007 2:06:16 PM PST by YCTHouston

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, the largest Republican vote-getter in the 2006 congressional elections and the most popular Republican in Texas, said yesterday she would consider an offer to run for vice president next year. "If our party's nominee called me and said we are putting everything in the grid, and we think you are the best person, would I say no? I can't imagine that I would say no," she said. "Would I seek it or do something to promote it? Absolutely not," she told editors and reporters of The Washington Times at a meeting at the newspaper.

--------------------------------------

She did not dispute, however, that she is widely discussed for top offices, including the vice presidency, in part because she is the most conservative and longest-tenured female Republican senator.

An opponent of partial-birth abortion and proponent of parental notification, she has a zero rating from the pro-choice NARAL and a 90 percent rating from the anti-tax Americans for Tax Reform. Her American Conservative Union 91 percent lifetime voting record puts her ahead of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and Utah Sen. Orrin G. Hatch, with 90 each. Mrs. Hutchison, the lead sponsor of a bill in 2005 to repeal the gun-ownership ban in the nation's capital, said she would reintroduce the legislation this year.

It's an annoying tic; I think it means they didn't like the way the question was asked.

Was thinking more of some fellow Texans who threw stones when she was thinking of running against Rick Perry in our Gov. primary.

That was the biggest political mistake KBH ever made. She would be the governor of Texas now, instead of TTC Perry INC.

What? To hear the local Freepers talk, Texas is the most hard-ass balls-to-the-wall conservative state.

What's up with that boys?

Ah, and I thought they were soliliquizing, as in "To be or not to be, that is the question." For the record I liked it when Rummy would do it, but it's getting old.

We could have a long discussion on womens suffrage, but among female senators she's certainly the most conservative.

I do dig femanists who are working to expand prostitution (huh?).

What exactly is it you're trying to say? That to be a conservative you have to be a woman-hater? Cuz that's what it sounds like to me.

Unfortunatley, election results carry more weight these days then the frequent postings of a handful of freepers.

Her ACU rating stacks up pretty well.

I kinda wonder why the democrats let her slip through the caca campaign they drove every other Republican through???

Because the democrat party only beats up on Black women like Condi.

Yeah. I'm sure all those folks bashing her as a "RINO" last year are real happy with Perry's post-election 180 on the border. Kay doesn't do it for me 100% of the time, but integrity and credibility count for something.

The only problem I have with her is she would not be the strongest pro life candidate.

"Ah, and I thought they were soliliquizing"

Well, that would make it a lot more interesting if I could envision them in Elizabethan get-up with a far-away gaze...

"Among female senators she's certainly the most conservative....."

Damning with faint praise, my friend. Compared to the gals from Maine? Please.

She's fine on WOT agenda items. But on domestic policy, she's shaky as hell. Do you not know how the ACU ratings system works?

As for Vital Voices -- check out their board sometime at www.vitalvoices.org. It is a who's who of Hillary and her friends. They take wheelbarrows of government grant money and go from third world country to third world country to expand feminism. And yes, one of their platforms to solve trafficking is to make prostitution a "career option" for those in poor nations who have no other apparent means of support. Not kidding here.

If you dig putting 12 year old little girls into prostitution as a career rather than prosecuting traffickers, well, I think we'll have to part company on that idea.

ACU's ratings are based on record votes, you can learn more here: http://www.acuratings.org/

Anyway, I'm not arguing she's the most conservatest of conservativedom, or whatever standard most freepers want, but that she deserves some credit and I'm glad the Times pointed it out. Why should our guys go further if they get no support from us and nothing but flack from the bad guys? This hold their feet to the flame/stay home on Election day stuff only works up to a point, beyond which you're just forfeiting the game.

That description works very well, for the person whom you are supporting for the GOP presidential candidate. Think about THAT! LOL
