WASHINGTON A former Time Magazine correspondent says former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer got it wrong when he testified under oath Monday at the CIA leak trial that he disclosed to the journalist the identity of a secret CIA operative.
"I assumed that in some context, my name would come up," John Dickerson, Slate Magazine's chief political correspondent, told FOXNews.com on his way Tuesday to cover the trial. "I didn't realize it would come up in that fashion."
Fleischer took the stand Monday to answer questions in the trial of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney. Libby is charged with perjury and obstruction relating to the investigation of who outed CIA operative Valerie Plame.
Fleischer also testified that he first heard about Plame from Libby over lunch on July 7, 2003. Libby says he first learned about Plame on July 10 from NBC reporter Tim Russert.
Dickerson said he was surprised when he heard his name and his photo popped up on the big screen in the courtroom when Fleisher took the stand.
"I was at the Scooter Libby trial to cover it, and all of a sudden, I found myself in the middle of the case," Dickerson wrote.

LOL.
Is that a bad thing? I suppose if its big trial being on the jury isn't so bad. As long as you know the truth before the trial starts. LOL
I think you're right.
Gee whiz, I think I saw her listed in Howard Hunt's "date book" ~ but who knows eh?!
It was repealed when ronnie earle was elected as the Travis Co. DA the first time. /sarcasm
The prosecutor is a Democrat, and he knows that only Republicans pay taxes.
No, no, no. I was in D.C. that day having lunch at The Willard with my brother and he confided in me that Ari was pregnant and he said he heard it from Andrea Mitchell or somebody else who drinks too much.
P.S.
Howlin's letter carrier was Jimmy Carter's cousin.
He did so without objection.
First thing they asked him for were his "reporter's notes" which he gladly handed over.
Richard said he had dyslyxia and writer's cramp (actual maladies that really do make your meaningless writing unreadable) so bad that even he couldn't read his notes once they were no longer "fresh".
Here we are finding that Richard is not alone ~ these reporters have gotten so used to keyboards they can no longer "take notes" that mean anything to anybody, and there go all the dates.
Fitzgerald should have read Cohen's commentaries on notes.
If I have to testify can I bring my wife with me? She remebers everything I ever said!
My wife only remembers the bad stuff
My translation of that statement is that Dickerson has destroyed any notes on the matter and is distancing himeslf from the whole affair as best he can...
And everything you didn't say!
If the jury can't remember who said what to whom and when, how in heavens are they going to vote "guilty" for anyone else?
What happened to Sam Brownback?
It's time to come clean! My birthday is July 7th. I turned 50 on 7/7/03. As a birthday gift to myself I outed Valerie Plame.
Whoops!
It looks like I posted on the wrong thread. They were discussing Sam Brownback on the Rush Limbaugh live thread.
Sorry!
"But Libby has worked both sides of lots of aisles, he has enemies that are more secret than Mrs. Wilson, I would suspect. ;-)"

I don't think Ari was a rich man. He wasn't a politician either, so he had to pay his own lawyer, which could be very expensive.
It was smart for him to get immunity and then tell the truth. So assuming he IS telling the truth as he knows it, I don't fault him for it.
