Iraq's army announced Monday it killed the leader of a heavily armed cult of messianic Shiites called "the Soldiers of Heaven" in a fierce gunbattle aimed at foiling a plot to attack leading Shiite clerics and pilgrims in the southern city of Najaf on the holiest day of the Shiite calendar Senior Iraqi security officers said that as part of the plot, three gunmen were captured in Najaf after renting a hotel room in front of the office of Iraq's most senior Shiite spiritual leader, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, with plans to attack it.
The fierce 24-hour battle was ultimately won by Iraqi troops supported by U.S. and British jets and American ground forces, but the ability of a splinter group little known in Iraq to rally hundreds of heavily armed fighters was a reminder of the potential for chaos and havoc emerging seemingly out of nowhere. Members of the group, which included women and children, planned to disguise themselves as pilgrims and kill as many leading clerics as possible, said Maj. Gen. Othman al-Ghanemi, the Iraqi commander in charge of the Najaf region.

Their whole religion is a cult!!! This must be a sub-cult of the main cult.
........and after....
The News Media is fatalistic.
I would not be surprised if this so-called cult was an Iranian front group in Iraq to stir up sectarian violence. I will be curious to see if when they question the prisoners if they turn out to be Persians.
My other reason for thinking this could be Iran is that this messianic thing seems to me a hallmark of President Rat Face of Iran's thinking with his Mahdi crap.
F this crap. There's nothing holy about any of these places.
Yet another religious festival.
Lets see:
Every other day is a Holy day.
Every other week is a Holy week.
Every other month is a Holy month.
Every other year is a Holy year.
(and this is being generous)
No wonder they are still back in the 14th century
with all these Holy days, weeks, months and years, how do they get any work done.
And even if they could find time to get work done, every piece of land is Holy and Sacred, so were would perform any work? Cant work on sacred ground.
Staggers the mind.
Nice target.
I live in the holy city of Santa Clarita.
Fourth row - fourth from the left. I think that's a blindfold. And over behind one of the trucks I think I see a Koran in a bedpan.
