Mary Kay Feltes will get a present Wednesday as part of an unusual foreign aid package from Mexico.
"I can't wait to open the box and see what's inside," said Feltes, assistant director of the Owatonna Public Library -- one of 82 organizations around the state that will receive a box of 55 Mexican textbooks.
The books will be given to school districts, libraries, community centers, universities and penitentiaries throughout Minnesota and northern Wisconsin.
The books, all in Spanish, are similar to those used in Mexico, covering everything from social sciences to mathematics. However, these books were produced by the Mexican government specifically for Mexicans abroad, especially the hundreds of thousands in the United States.

I'm getting pretty damned sick of Mexico exerting its influence here in the United States.
First it was the consular matricular card and now this?
I wish that the Mexican govt would spend a little more time putting their own house in order instead of sticking their nose where it doesn't belong.
OTOH, maybe the US govt does this too. I'd hate to appear as being hypocritical. Does anyone know if our govt does this too?
Comments or opinions - anyone?

The Mexican government has been funding illegal immigration and aid programs to help people illegally enter our nation.
At some point we need sanctions against Mexico but there are too many business interests lobbying on behalf of cheap labor (below our new minimum wage) both at home and abroad.
I hope that they won't be overly disappointed when the boxes contain only janitorial supplies.
Never, in the history of international relations, has one country not only permitted, but encouraged, its people to enter another sovereign nation illegally, and then had the cajones to tell that nation how those illegal immigrants should be treated. Any country but the U.S. of A. would be outraged. Any Muslim country would send the illegals home-in pieces.
Do the duties of a public library include making these books available, which are written by a foreign government for its citizens? I would think not, but in a few areas with a high concentration of legal Mexican immigrants, it might not be too unreasonable.
There's no place for these books in our schools, unless it's at a college level, and they are provided for the benefit of education majors interested in learning what kinds of material is taught in Mexico.
The Mexican government should send these books to their embassies and then allow their citizens to contact the embassy if they want such books.

How many Mexicans did it take to beat 144 Americans at the Alamo?
Brave Santa Ana! Valiant Little Brown Brother!
I thought the force attacking the Alamo was larger still.
Well, there were probably a lot of them standing around -- tooth to tail ratio, and all that. Just think of all the noncombatant staff officers, valets, cooks, whores, toadys, lackeys and factotums. Must have been half the army at least, old Santa Ana traveled in style!
Yeah, ok. I forgot about the train. Still speaks highly of the resolve of the defenders whatever ratio you use.

"Press Release 258
Mexico City December 28, 2006
"In order to improve the living conditions of Mexican immigrants in the United States and raise their level of education, the federal government through the Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME in Spanish) began a scholarship program for Mexicans in the United States.
"In its first year of operation, the IME granted economic assistance totaling 10 million pesos to 51 non-profit social organizations that gave scholarships to approximately 3,000 students and financial assistance to 286 advisors and 112 coordinators and/or administrators of educational programs abroad ..."

And why can't they do that IN Mexico?
It wouldn't advance the cause of colonization and control of the United States.
I looked up the email addresses of a few people involved in this scheme here:

I encourage everyone to send an email to the Star-Tribune.
And, if you're in the area, I strongly urge you to make St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman as miserable as possible by asking him something similar to this question:
Have you reviewed these textbooks to see whether they contain anti-American propaganda? For instance, have you done due diligence to verify that they do not claim that the U.S. southwest rightfully belongs to Mexico?
I have heard about this for at least 5 years. They have been providing text books to give their version of Mexican history. So their citizens can get the 'real story' on their heritage.
