There is an article just came across my email from the NY Times saying "The Growing Chorus of Antiwar Conservatives" -- wonder if they are from here since the Iraq War isn't their #1 priority or the WOT or national security?

I'll vote against any Democrat running for president in 2008, but not for any third party candidate.
Without Ross Perot, there would have been no Bill Clinton 42d President of the United States.
Any tantrum-throwing results in Hillary Clinton as 44th President of the United States.
And I really resent that.

"I would suggest Rudy do a poll to see how criticial the social issues are for holding the party together." I would bet he has done that very precise thing, and it has shown him the potential damage. That could be the major reason he has not entered the race officially.

Now why don't you complete the picture and tell us why Rudy or McCain can't win.
I'll start:
Rudy - The Media's choice (runner up) to oppose their true favorite, Her Royal Heinous. Too liberal. Swing voters would probably prefer an honest to God (Democrat) liberal homosexual/abortionist vs a pretend Republican liberal. Conservative right-wing will probably stay home.
McCain(e) - The Media's first choice to oppose their true favorite Her Royal Heinous. Corrupt, backstabbing, 1st amendment hating turncoat RINO. Swing voters would probably prefer a real honest to God corrupt, backstabbing Democrat. Conservative right-wing will probably stay home.

Why else would you have posted that he got the award other than to cite further qualification he's acceptable?
When you post tidbits like that in support of Rudy, you have to expect other to do some research and se who else got the award, like Bob Hope. It really means a lot less the more you know, just like Rudy's candidacy.

The people who knew Reagan best and are in charge of his legacy determined that Reagan liked Rudy Giuliani and respected him enough to give him the Ronald Reagan Freedom Award.I know you don't like it, but you'll have to live with it.

My point is that Rudy may turn out to be sufficiently conservative on key issues that he should earn the support of conservatives. So far, all we've heard about Rudy's positions on national issues is what Spiff has chosen to interpret for us.
My point is also that idealism, where it makes one's principles so politically marginalized that they become a non-factor in elections, is useless, unless one is content simply turning their political ideology into a museum piece. Pragmatism acknowledges that no one gets a candidate they can agree with 100% of the time. I'd prefer to put my support behind a candidate who I agree with 50% of the time, who can beat a candidate I agree with 0% of the time. The way the Rudy-bashers talk on this forum you'd think he didn't have a conservative bone in his body. I don't believe that; I've posted articles which show that that is not the case; and yet the beat goes on. It's reached the point where the bulk of the Rudy-bashers aren't participating in discussion or debate, but name-calling and attempting to shout-down those they see as the opposition. It's childish, frankly. And I've gotten to the point where I'm going to refuse to play their game. And if FR becomes over-run by these types over the next year, I think we will see the beginning of the end of FR.

Thanks for the reminder for people that don't get it. My sentiments exactly. Some folks on here forget just how dangerous it would be to put her near the WH with Slick by her side to sell all kinds of Secrets to our enemies. They need to get their temper tantrums out now! We cannot afford to nominate a candidate that cannot send her back to the stone ages in the landslide of votes.

You complain about insults and personal attacks against you.
And now you imply that the Rudy critics on FR are antiwar.
Descipable, two-faced posting.

Many of those on FR who criticize "Republicans in Name Only" aren't even "Republican in Name" or in actuality.

Nancy Reagan runs the show at the Reagan Library. Mrs. Reagan is a Republican. She likes and supports liberal Republicans like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Rudy Giuliani. What does that make Mrs. Reagan? Hint: Its the opposite of conservative .... she's a liberal!
