m not taking a chance in 2008 on who I support for President because we have to win. I am truly curious how you think someone from the far left of the GOP on so many issues can hold the party together, especially when HE has not shown himself beholden to party loyalty, such as his endorsement of Cuomo over Pataki in 1994.
I also am curious how you think Rudy will be able to withstand the impact of his bagage. Recall that there were rumors of Bush dancing on a bar naked in 2000. Those never materialized.
Rudy, however, has ample images in drag. I don't think that's a big deal, but the Dems will be able to use 526-type groups to run those images time and time again to supress social conservative turnout.
And for the moderates, they will bang on Bernie Kerik like a cheap cutlet to diminish Rudy's strengths on the WOT.
So Rudy not only won't be able to hold the base together, he will also hand to the Dems the hammers to hit him with.
If we learned anything from John Kerry in 2004, having plenty of money will not win the election if you have baggage that writes the commercials for the other side. Methinks you truly are deluded into thinking Rudy can win just because he is drawing a lot of money right now.

I didn't say the war was unimportant, but to me abortion is more important. I do not vote for a proinfanticide candidate.

I didn't imply any such thing. I was attempting to show the logic of the remark when it was made in respect to many previous statements.
On a personal note I really don't care about FA at all, one way or the other.

$500 is a bit to rich for my blood these days, but $100 I could do, if I had not already donated it to Duncan Hunter this month. As I will do each month until he wins in 11-08.
I would not give Rino Rudy spit if my life depended on it.

Well we know that you have told us 1000 times already, lets move elswhere or just stop right here. So on one hand, you want to have substantive debates, and then you turn around and butt into someone else's substantive debate and tell them to stop.
And the Rudy boosters wonder why so many Freepers are growing weary of their tactics.

Thanks for ZINGING me, but not PINGING me to this thread. I wouldn't have done that with you and you know it.
Thanks to FReeper "cgk" for alerting me to Jim Robinson's remarks on this thread supporting the conservative agenda of Free Republic. Thanks Jim!
Rudy Giuliani has more in common with the old Rockefeller-wing of the GOP, then he has in common with the conservatism of Ronald Reagan. Rudy will not win the GOP nomination. Social conservatives will reject Rudy come primary time.

I am a rock ribbed conservative but I will not support a candidate that cannot win, spends all their time on social issues when infrastructe is in horrible shape, and wastes my tax dollars on illegals. Unfortunately, Giuliani's own background has shown he does just that...
(Archived NYT): Giuliani Sues U.S. Over Welfare Law:
"Mayor Rudolph W Giuliani files lawsuit against Federal Government, challenging provisions of new welfare and immigration laws that allow city employees to turn in illegal immigrants who seek services like police protection, hospital care and public education"Malkin: End Sanctuary for Illegals. "He was rebuffed by two lower courts, which ruled that the sanctuary order amounted to special treatment for illegal aliens and were nothing more than an unlawful effort to flaunt federal enforcement efforts against illegal aliens. In January 2000, the Supreme Court rejected his appeal, but Giuliani vowed to ignore the law."
(Archive NYT): Giuliani Eases Marriage Rule For Foreigners: "Mayor Rudolph W Giuliani announces that immigrants who apply for marriage licenses in New York City cannot be turned away if they are in country illegally and used foreign passport with expired visa as identification; says new rule is intended to clarify procedures at City Clerk's offices, which have been crowded in recent weeks with immigrants hoping to get married before stricter Federal immigration laws take effect on April 1"
Taking the limited example above into account, I see little that I would consider encouraging as to where he truly stands on National Security. After all - the border and illegals are a part of that, not just the War on Terror. But he'd rather sue the Feds to protect illegals, and then ignore them when overruled?
(Ping to WPtG for continuation of earlier discussion on this topic.)

I do care about a number of issues, I just rank them in order of importance. The war is #5.

Telling Rudy posters they should not post here because Rudy is a liberal and they don't belong here is not debate. That is what is going on here.Who specifically wants the Rudy supporters to leave FR? Passionate differences of opinion are what makes this site great.

Have you read the Rudy threads lately? Most of them are telling us that we should not be posting because Rudy is a liberal and this is a conservative forum. I think this issue should be solved once and for all.
