Well, since the "invading army" fired no shots, took no prisoners, damaged nothing, and left, I fail to see what benefit additional "weapons" could have had.

How about protecting our guardsmen and our country.

And if the NG troops had opened fire instead of doing what they did, it would have been an international incident.

So what? It’s already an international incident.

You don't just shoot people for walking into your country illegally.

You do if they’re armed. They have made their intent quite clear.

The administration had better rethink this, if one of these guardsmen gets killed and it is later learned that he had no ammo its going to very bad.

These drug cartels are bloodthirsty killers and they want their smuggling corridors back. As the pressure mounts so will the violence. Personally I am amazed they have not sniped or use an IED on the Guard or BP yet. Mark my words it will happen.

I actually don't think they are unarmed. They have handguns, I think all of them. There is ammo for the m-16s as well, I just don't think it is issued, because they aren't supposed to be in shooting wars, they are observers. We try not to allow our military to do police work.
