You are saying some Christian sects don't practice flagellation? They practice crucifixion in the Philippines.
What you are describing here is a practice by some "Catholic" sects in 3rd world countries. Thge Vatican has condemned such practices years ago. There is no room for such behavior in Reformed Theology or Roman Catholic Theology.
