It's a given that should Guliani manage to win the nomination on the strength of the same favorable press coverage that Clinton is receiving + the financial support of wealthy, connected, beltway Republicans that many conservatives (including myself) will vote third party.

This is what they want - it will guarantee that someone who espouses Clinton's ideology will be in the White House - and the easiest way for them to do this is to try and subvert the Republican primary process with a liberal like Rudy.
