A lot of people have lost sight of the fact that being a f**king weirdo isn't something to be desired and it doesn't make you an artist (at least not my definition of an artist). Doing sick sh*t just means you're doing sick sh*t.
And "art" has become a safe haven for all sorts of flakes and talentless fools. I don't know why that is. Maybe it's because the intention of the artist is given more weight than the actual work these days, which has made for absurdly low standards.
Maybe if I could shake my self respect for a little while I'd be willing to join them in order to make a few bucks. I might do an exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in which I put a can of green beans atop a toilet in a cubicle and call it "The Struggle of Man". No doubt it would spark intense discussion and debate as to the deep meaning of my work and I'd be rewarded handsomely for it. That's how ridiculous "art" has become.

You forgot the most evocative word for what they're trying to accomplish: transgressive.
To these evil people, anything that offends against and tears down "traditional morality," (also known as morality itself) is by definition artistic and exciting.
That's right. I've long argued that love of modern art is a strong indication of immorality. But that's a lengthy discussion which is more appropriate for another time and place.
