LOS ANGELES, Oct. 30 -- Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and a vigorous opponent of illegal immigration, announced Monday that he is starting the process of seeking the presidency in 2008...
"...I've always laid my cards on the table," Hunter said at a news conference in San Diego. "As I finish my final two years as chairman of the Armed Services Committee, I'm also going to be preparing to run for president of the United States in 2008..."
The 13-term congressman is known in his suburban San Diego district for advocacy on immigration and military issues. He was a leader in the construction of a 14-mile fence along the U.S.-Mexico border...A Vietnam veteran, Hunter has advocated for a strong military, sometimes taking positions to the right of Republican leaders.

A real conservative, in the Reagan tradition, who we can support. It's quite certain that this former chairman of the armed services committe, himself a Vietnam veteran, and who has a child who served in Iraq will make a better steward of our national security than a mayor or a Arizona senator from the open border lobby.

He is -- this article was written in Oct. of last year.
The story is 4 months old, Mil.
The Rinos will be here shortly to say he can't win.
Keep the threads/news coming on Hunter, the media isn't even mentioning him!!
I'll vote for him or Newt...
Thanks for the link -- I just checked out his site. I thought this was a pretty good article:

Hunter & Newt are my two favorites too!
By the way, I haven't heard Hunter speak -- how is he in the eloquence department? At first blush he looks pretty good on the issues. Can he communicate them succinctly and persuasively?
The clear choice in this field, imo.
If anything, he can run around stating thatthe RATS made sure only those with a military background can comment on Iraq. Then he cites Kerry over and over.
Then he turns and says to Hillary, "So, with 8 years in the senate and without the ability to handle your husband, how do you plan on handling our military?" "I mean, if you were willing to give your impeached, disbarred husband a second chance, don't you think it only fair to give our military a second chance at defeating Al Queada in Iraq?"
He was on ABC This Week today. I thought it was pretty good.

Kind of reminds me of Dick Cheney, very direct, answers the questions, knows his subjects. He could make a good president.
Have to say he's my choice also. Hunter's right on the issues most important to me. The three issues he highlighted in the interview: border security, national defense and reworking trade agreements to favor American mfg. jobs are going to play well with the people.
...indeed, the story is a bit on the old side, however it does a good job of ennumerating Congressman Hunter's unparalled qualifications when it comes to taking care of our national security in a time of war...his experience on the armed services committee will give him the sort of insight that neither a mayor nor an Arkansas governor will be able to touch.
