Perhaps because I remember that time first hand, "they" tried to burn down *my* ROTC building and my student union, so I'm a bit picky about the history. Their attempts were pretty pathetic in those cases. They set the fires in the ROTC building on the concrete of the drive-out basement, and only managed to scorch a carpet with their firebomb.
However I also saw the underhanded tactics they used to make it appear that the majority of the student body were behind them.
They had their "all student" convocation, and lost the "strike" vote, and all their other resolutions. When the wacko who later firebombed the Union shouted "shut it down or we'll burn it down", he was loudly booed and had to make a quick retreat. That much I saw with my own eyes, and got reports on the ROTC fire first hand from folks who did see it.
That was Mother's day weekend. All the normal students went home to be with their mothers, so the wackos had another "convocation" on Mothers day, where they, in the name of the student body, voted a "strike", which was duly reported by the local media, but just as duly ignored by the majority of the students.
You said *MY ROTC building. From that I thank you for your involvement in the ROTC program and perhaps military as well. What I was trying to say was that there is an entire story that is largely unknown. I did not intend to diminish by referring to 'cops' what transpired, but point out that the commonly told story may not be completely accurate.
Really now, that is just a little too apocalyptic even for you. Not to mention a disingenuously broad-brush of a comment. I do understand your passion though.
That is what I was told. Capitol Police answer to those in control of the Capitol.
So, it was Hastert and Frist that let SINdy McKinney and Patti Kennedy off.
No wonder they keep trying to sell the lie that they lost control because of the war. They lost control because they were worthless pansies and appeasers.
Don't you dare call them anti-American, though.
SCOTUS declared the constitution un-constitutional a long time ago.
A better question might be - most of us have to work for a living, provide for our families and in general terms, have insufficient time and money to travel to the Capitol to march or riot in rallies/mobs. That was one thing my father mentioned to me about the 1960's - "How do all those protesters support themselves, I wouldn't have the time to do that.." It would be interesting to know the provenance of the bulk of participants - how do they support themselves, where do they get their money, etc.
"Excuse me while I chuckle at all of the outrage on this thread. NONE OF YOU WERE THERE WITH US YESTERDAY WHEN THESE LEFTIES MARCHED ON THE CAPITOL. Why should the Capitol Police put their necks on the line when so few people bother to show up in support of America. There were tens of thousands of lefties against forty of us--including wounded warriors who left their hospital beds to support their country yet again. WHERE WERE YOU?"
I really appreciate all of your efforts, but isn't this abit like saying that "if you support the war, why aren't you over there fighting"? Now where have I heard that argument before?
Working on a Saturday afternoon.. 100 miles away. Thank you for attending the protest....but some of us can't attend them.
This is racist!!! Rodney King got all those stitches and all he was doing was driving a little over the speed limit. And all these suburban white kids get away to play soccer later that day.
The Capitol Police get their orders from the politicians in charge. You can do anything you want in a committee hearing and if the Chairman says no arrests, there are no arrests. You now have Democrats in charge.
I find it hard to believe that this is THE #1 topic of discussion.
Speaker Peosi is responsible for the the "employment" of the chief of the Capital Police and, therefore, their behavior and policies.
Where is the outcry?
Where are the questions?
Okay, why do these two retards still have jobs?
How much you want to bet they'd been arrested if they spray painted "Jesus Loves You"...?
When I heard this I thought of that -- think the Capital Police didn't get the message from the non-prosecution of Mckinney? Why should they take the chance of getting injured in a fight with 300 angry anarchists, when the prosecutor likely won't press charges anyway?
" "Jesus Loves You"...?"
How about anything anywhere?
