24 creator, Joel Surnow, is producing what he calls "A Daily Show for conservatives. Naturally liberals wont admit The Daily Show is Left-leaning, but they dont admit anythings Left-leaning. These are the same people who think CNNs too pro-American. Anyway, The Hot Little Number I Call Mrs. Harry and I were lucky enough to score some seats to watch the taping and had a terrific time. It was our first ever look at the live taping of a TV show and we found it to be a fascinating experience.
The Half Hour News Hour is actually nothing like The Daily Show because The Half Hour News Hour is actually funny. The two stars, Kurt Long and Susan Yeagley, displayed none of Jon Stewarts smug self-satisfied mugging or Colberts tiresome ironic self-awareness. Instead, theyre both charming performers with a strong chemistry who blend seriousness and absurdity in the same way SNL did in the heyday of its Weekend Update series.
Im not going to review the show here. It was shot out of order and the few dud jokes will hopefully be edited out, and how it will all come together is anyones guess. But as a series of sketches, most were laugh-out-loud funny and brutally clever skewering environmentalism, political correctness, the ACLU, and many other liberal sacred cows.
Its nice to finally have a powerful, outspoken producer on our side. Im encouraged by what I saw Saturday and think Surnow understands theres an audience out there largely ignored and ready to become a cash cow with more smart programming. Like I said, I cant recommend a show before its put together, but I strongly recommend you give it a chance. Some of the jokes were timely, so I expect it will air soon.
ROFL!
Hope the show does well and that they get the Republican Girls Gone Wild on it.
Their idea about tearing down the UN and putting up a Wal-Mart is genius. Just watch:

She really turned out to be a liberal, didn't she?
The section of "The Limbaugh Letter" titled "NEWSDIGEST", which consists of left-wing nutty stories, legislation, group antics, etc., if produced for TV, would be wonderful!
So many of the stories there would lend themselves to a fast, off-the-wall, format. And, like his TV show ( which was run into the bar-closing hours by broadcasters), if Rush were involved, it would have to be good!
I hope they put The Republican Girls Gone Wild on the show.

So true. I can't stand those guys.
Ha,ha, I wish I could actually take credit, but I'll bet Ailes has been pondering a show like this ever since he took control of FOX. But a little check would be nice...if he actually read my e-mail...which is doubtful. But I'd gladly accept nada from anyone if it would make this show a success.
Is she married to the Kevin Nealen on STL? She is cute.
OOPS. SNL not STL.
Yes, I heard that Rush Limbaugh is involved in the show, and that in their first pilot (the one they scrapped and later re-shot), there was a skit where Rush played the Pressdent and Ann Coulter played the first lady.
The Factor rerun gets higher ratings in the 10pm central slot than all the rest of the cable news shows. Highly doubt FNC will mess with that slot if this new show goes nightly.
Give me 20 on wolf.
Yes. And expecting a baby.
I heard the Creator Joel Surnow on the radio talking about the show and he said he had only made two shows so far because he had to run them by Roger Ailes and see if he liked them. I suppose if they do well and it becomes a hit show, they will start showing them on a daily basis.
Hilarious!!!!
That was pretty cool.
I can't either. I used to like Colbert until he trashed the president at that dinner for journalist.
