Well, proud Jewish parents are joyful when their sons are circumsized which can't be pleasant for the baby.

Dennis Prager, when he was young and traveling on a bus met an Iraqi man. He asked him to tell him in a sentence or two about the Iraqis as a people. The man said, "We are the most barbaric people in the world."
Prager said he was chilled by the response. This was long before anybody ever heard of Iraq.

I know this is suppose to be some "holy" holiday, but it looks more like VANITY to me.
A bunch of folks in white clothes (which emphanizes the bloodiness) trying to outwhip each other-"oooh look at me, covered in blood, im so much more holy than you"
while im sure its pretty painful, i think there is some sadistic pleasure in it for them.
barbaric is actually being too nice.
