I share your frustration...I wonder if Maliki and his minions would have been able to get tough without a Democratic congress breathing down his neck...it's like Clinton getting welfare reform through or Nixon going to China...the opposition may serve a purpose that we are unaware of...I pray for our soldiers and the CIC who is surely taking so many body blows lately.

You do recall that he fought it tooth and nail and demonized those who supported it, right? And only signed it when it was clear that it had enough support to over-ride his veto, and even then begrudgingly. When it was shown to clearly work, he then claimed credit for it.
"...it's like Clinton getting welfare reform through..." so fighting welfare reform tooth and nail including vetoing the bill three times is "getting welfare reform through"? I think you meant "getting welfare reform over Clinton's dead body" didn't you?
This has nothing to do with the Democrats taking over Congress.
