Lots of things require licenses and I don't see you having a problem with those things. My point is that just because you have to have a license to own a gun, that alone shouldn't make you as upset about it as you seem to be.
I don't have to have a license to own one, Virginia doesn't require it. I only have to have a permit to carry it concealed (which I do). Open carry is not prohibited under state law, so no permit required there either.
I guess it's just the principal of the thing. I see it as registration, and my fear is that registration leads to confiscation. Sure if things remain status quo I personally won't have anything to worry about, but I don't know how long the status quo will remain unchanged.
