I think so, too. These are the unappeasables.

Your one note song became tedious after the first time your warbled it.

You haven't the slightest idea how many of us FReepers who are opposed to Giuliani will vote in 2008. None.

What we will not do is roll over and give him a free pass and kiss his feet like you are doing just because he sounds conservative on one, maybe two issues (talk about your one-note candidates) while singing an eighty voice liberal choir on the rest.

My preference, Romney, is also opposed by many FReepers--and for for poorly articulated and largely unsubstantiated reasons in this social conservative's opinion. But I try not to lay the blame at the feet of those opposed to him. I know he has work to do. It is Romney's responsibility to explain his positions and persuade us why we should believe he will govern conservatively. He's working to do that. If he fails, it's his failure. No one has a "duty" to support him.

Giuliani isn't undertaking any effort all. He's not going to stake out socially conservative positions. Why should he? As long as people like you give him cover and blame everyone else for not worshiping him, he has no incentive to change.

What I and other FReepers do in the voting booth in 2008 concerning Giuliani isn't a problem for Giuliani. What is a problem for him is what the millions of social conservatives will do who have no idea Free Republic even exists. What they are likely to do is stay home on election day because they have no real choice if the choice is between two radical social liberals.

When you're one of the unappeasables - that's where you are.

I haven't decided who I will support. It's much too early, imo. I like Romney, too. And he gets the same crap from the unappeasables here. I don't care for McCain - but I'd vote for him if it comes to that. My view is that folks like Rudy and Romney take votes away from McCain - and I appreciate that.

The haters and spammers turn me off and I enjoy mixing it up with them. They, imo, make the GOP and conservatives look bad. They embody the sterotype.

I think that the GOP should not count on the unappeasables at all. They should reach out to the independents who were 47% of the 2006 vote.

What good would that do? Guiliani may be bad but I don't think he hates America and what it has always stood for the way Hillary (or most Liberal-Socialist DEMOniC-RATs) does.
