During the Vietnam War we had "hawks" and "doves", but no word to quickly refer to those playing politics who were commited to neither position.
So, during the Vietnam War years, while soldiers were dying, those what I now term "sporks" did nothing to either achieve victory or pull the troops out and avoid further deaths. They were more concerned about politics than the lives of the troops.
My definition of a "spork" (based on the eating utensil that is neither a full fork nor a full spoon, and usually (ironically) plastic) is a politician who won't commit to victory or vote to defund the war. Hillary and Brownback, for example are "sporks", while Lieberman and McCain (Forks?), and those who currently want to defund the war (Spoons?) are not.
SPORKS want it both ways, with the ability to change position as the situation in Iraq changes.
Sort of a half breed kind of loser. LOL!
