Rudolph W. Giuliani, who developed a national reputation for decisive and reassuring leadership after 9/11, now faces the odd challenge of having to reassure some supporters that he can be decisive about a very different issue: running for president. Even as his fellow Republican John McCain and fellow New Yorker Hillary Rodham Clinton have all but formally declared their candidacies, Mr. Giuliani has proceeded more cautiously.

No need for you to support Rudy. Who *do* you support?
Thanks for the compliment!
thanks
Tom calls "glib" on that....
It's not about you, Spiff. How did you say you were doing, btw, in preventing abortion?
a STOP Giuliani ping list? Add me!
Hunter is the guy!
No, comedian, but it does describe the millions of unborn who have been brutally murdered. If turning a blind eye to that is now considered "pragmatic" or "conservative," then Conservatism and this Nation are in a bad place.
Rudy is NOT a social conservative. He may never appeal to you. But he DOES appeal to others.
COLMES: Now, on abortion now, you are pro-choice, right?
GIULIANI: Yes.
COLMES: You're a pro-choice Republican.
GIULIANI: I am.
~snip~
COLMES: Now, Roe vs. Wade -- You are pro-choice. How important is it to you as a pro-choice Republican to have a pro-choice on the court as someone...
GIULIANI: That is not the critical factor. And what's important to me is to have a very intelligent, very honest, very good lawyer on the court. And he fits that category, in the same way Justice Ginsburg fit that category.
I mean, she was she maybe came at it from a very different political background, very qualified lawyer, very smart person. Lots of Republicans supported her. I expect, and listening to Senator Nelson, I expect that John Roberts will get support from a lot of Democrats.
So Rudy thinks Ruth Bader Ginsberg is a "very intelligent, very honest, very good lawyer".... "very qualified lawyer, very smart person". I don't know any conservative who heaps praises on J.Ginsberg like that. J.Ginsberg is the ultimate liberal. Obviously, Rudy is not a conservative when it comes to his idea of what makes a good strict constructionist judge-jurist-justice. Rudy would be more inclined to appoint a Lawrence Tribe, George Mitchell or Alan Dershowitz to the SCOTUS, then he would be to appoint another Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas or William Rehnquist.
LOL - you know that will go right over their heads :-)
Reagan was a great president, and won by a landlside, right? Is giuliani anything like Reagan? Nope, not even close. Hunter is very much like Reagan. He can win by a landslide, with a little more face time on TV. We have close to a year before the new hampshire primaries, too.
Like most everything else.
To me, they appear to be living in a timewarp; it's like they cannot accept the fact that the world has passed them by, it's not the 1990's or 80's anymore, and we have to COMPROMISE.
How do you feel you have done so far in preventing abortion?
Of course, because he's fighting a losing battle. Whenever your candidate is the lesser of two librals, you automatically lose no matter what the outcome is.
"So Rudy thinks Ruth Bader Ginsberg is a "very intelligent, very honest, very good lawyer".... "very qualified lawyer, very smart person". I don't know any conservative who heaps praises on J.Ginsberg like that
LOL! You are so taking that out of context. Just because Rudy thinks Ginsburg is intelligent, honest and a good lawyer doesn't mean he agrees with her judicial ideology. Heck, I'll admit that Bill Clinton is very intelligent, he was a Rhodes scholar after all and a law professor, but that doesn't mean I agree with his politics.
If Giuliani is so bad, why did Reagan appoint him to be his Associate Attorney General?
You don't really follow national politics much, do you?
You are most welcome. It is nice to read something with some real thought behind it - instead of all this spam and hatred.
I agree. Rudy appeals to moderates, centrists and liberals. Maybe conservatives should take a cue from Cong Vito Fossella, and join him in throwing away their principles and their integrity, and jump on the Rudy's liberal bandwagon. LOL
