I appreciate the ping. I would really urge everyone to watch the entire interview. I'm not sure that Burns sounded optimistic, but he is convinced that failure would be catastrophic.

His comments on the Iraqi sense of nationalism, the Brit's and al-Sadr, the Iraq Shi'a and their view of Iran and the al-Qaeda presence were all very interesting.

Yes, as I understand it, it was at least something more than usually could have been expected from a report(er) from the New York Times.

I haven't seen it yet........ something wrong with the computer. But, from what I heard it was definitely a decent interview.

But I did hear this excellent set of words --- “the frozen world of Saddam Hussein”. Excellent.

Mr. Burns is a very hard worker by the way.
